I Almost Do
Phan
Angst
Notes: This is based on the song I Almost Do by Taylor Swift. I've been in the mood for song fics lately; sorry if you don't like them. Also, as usual, I recommend you listen to this song before or during reading ^-^
(So in this story, there will be quite a lot of switching POVs. So look for the five *s and then you'll know that they changed. I know I normally use them as time skips, but there is no time skips in this story.)
I bet, this time of night your still up
I bet, you're tired of a long hard week
I bet, your sitting on your chair by the window, looking out on the city
And I bet sometimes you think about me.
Phil sighed as he threw his duvet across the room, wondering why he couldn't just sleep. He got up and sat at his desk, picking up his favorite book. He desperately tried to read it but even his fictional universe couldn't cheer him up. He then pulled his desk chair out to his balcony, before sitting in it and looking out over London. It was kind of pretty at night. The lights sparkling against the black night.
Kinda like how Dans eyes used to sparkle.

I just wanted to tell you, it takes everything in me, not to call you.
Dan cried into his pillow, wishing he hadn't screwed up everything. He had so many feelings, and no one to tell them to. The one person he could always call in the middle of the night, doesn't care anymore.
He sat up quickly, running his hand through his curls. He never straitened them anymore. Not like Phil was there to appreciate it, but there was no reason to leave the house anymore.
He grabbed his phone and typed in the password before going into his contacts. One name making him smile as he tapped on it.
My little lion <3
His finger hovered over the 'Call' button, shaking. And he almost pressed it. But then he remembered.
He couldn't.
And I wish I could run to you,
And I hope you know that
Every time I don't,
I almost do,
I almost do.
*****
I bet, you think I either moved on or hate you
Cause each time you reach out
There's no reply.
Phil walked back into his bedroom, picking up his phone and turning it on. The lock-screen haunting him for days now had to be changed.
It was him and Dan, hugging tightly. Phil had edited it to have a heart above their heads. But that heart meant nothing anymore.
He quickly changed the lock-screen to Muse lyrics, not really caring. The same for his home screen as it was Dan smiling.
Phil clicked on his texts, the recent ones from PJ and Chris, but at the bottom was Dan's. He couldn't bring himself to delete their conversation.
For the sixth time this week, he texted him:
Hey Dan, we should meet up. Please reply.
Love,
Phil
