As she walked towards him, Sam could only think of how beautiful she looked. Only when she was a few feet away and he could see the color of her eyes did he notice that they perfectly matched the greyish tone of her dress. He wondered if the match was deliberate or just a coincidence until his attention got diverted to the red of her lips. That red lipstick again.
"If it werent for the fiery red of your lips I would have taken you for an angel."
Wow. Chloe was shocked. Too cheesy for a first line, especially coming form such a hot guy. "Well, first of all hi. And thanks, I guess?"
"Yeah, sorry. Hi." Sam kissed her cheek sweetly and moved back only a few inches as if to get a better look of her lips. "Honestly, I don't love red but it looks amazing on you."
Chloe could feel the warmth of his breath as he spoke. "Thanks," she muttered. "It tastes good too."
Sam was pleasantly surprised at the comment. He was not sure whether she wanted him to taste it or if it had been the only thing she could come up with, but he thought he would use it as an excuse to take a shot at it. Chloe had fixed her eyes on his lips and was thankful when he went for the kiss. It unknotted her stomach and sent shivers all over her body.
Both of them knew that they needed to move fast to get wherever they wanted to go, wherever their expectations for the night met the other's. Locking lips was the perfect first step to be able to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening.
"Why me?" Chloe asked as they walked hand in hand to her car after leaving Willa's.
"Why not?"
Chloe rolled her eyes. "I am honestly curious about it. I really want to know." And she was. She had asked herself that question a million times since she saw the number on her cup.
"I have kind of a sixth sense. I've learnt to trust my instincts."
"Bullshit. But sounds nice."
Sam let out a soft laugh. "You know what sounds nice to me?"
"What?"
He still found doing this pretty awkward but every tour, he had seen Danny go through all possible moods. Having a girlfriend was difficult but having a girlfriend and not being able to see her for whole months... that was switching it to hard mode. Sam had decided he would not go through any of it until he found his Kenzie. But not committing implied taking other risks. He took in a deep breath and just said it. "We spending the night together."
Chloe had had a massive crush on Sammy since she first started listening to Greta. She knew this was more than most fans could ever dream of but, apparently, that is all she had ever done: dream about it. She had never really stopped to consider what she would do in a situation like this.
When the silence began to feel uncomfortable, Sam started to speak again.
Chloe cut him off. "Hey, don't bother with excuses. I want to." She had decided there was no time to think.
"Oh. You do?" Sam seemed surprised.
She got closer to his ear and moved a streak of hair out of the way with her cold fingers. "Well, I'm only human," she whispered.
