It was a rainy Saturday afternoon. A gloomy, humid day. Only the bottom of the sun was able to shine a bit through the dark, puffy clouds above. Wind was rapidly blowing through the trees.
Mao Mao looked out the kitchen window, capturing the relaxing storm incoming. He was waiting on his best companion, Badgerclops, to finish prepping up the kitchen to make their special Jelly Cake!
"Yo, Mao, I'm done getting all set!" Badgerclops called out to the black cat, being only a couple feet away from him.
Mao Mao's ears perked up, as his head turned to look at the badger to his right.
"Alrighty!" Mao Mao replied as he walked over next to the other male, and swiped the dust off his elbows from the window frame he was leaning on.
"So first! Your apron, my good sir!" Badgerclops gave a little grin and bent down to his friend's level, while handing Mao Mao his own little apron. It was white with red hearts covering the upper half of the clothing piece.
Mao Mao looked at it a bit embarrassed, and back up at the tall badger.
'Fine, only if it'll make this big nerd happy,' Mao Mao thought to himself, not wanting to upset his best friend, the guy he had feelings for!
He slipped the apron around his head and let it fall down his neck, as the top-half of the white piece rested on his shoulders. The bottom-half fell over his short body, and covered him whole.
"Are ya ready now?" The badger asked the little cat, looking down at him while gripping a bowl between his hands.
"Sure thing!" Mao Mao exclaimed, as he snapped his fingers and tilted his head, giving a smirk.
"Now we have our accessories, it's time to poor the badder into the large bowl!" Badgerclops states as he placed the bowl in his hands, down on the counter. He grabbed the bag of vanilla cake badder, and emptied the whole bag into the container below.
"Now, my assistant cook, Mao Mao-"
"Never call me your ASSISTANT." Mao Mao whined to the taller male, waving his finger and cutting him off.
"Heheh, whatever, man. You're just jealous that I can actually cook, and YOU can't~" Badgerclops teased the smaller animal and booped his nose.
"How-how about we just bake this stupid cake?" Mao Mao grunted in annoyance, massaging his temple, squinting his eyes at the badger.
"Fine, fine! Time to poor half-a-cup of milk into the badder!" Badgerclops moved on from the tiny fuss. He grabbed the jug of 2% milk, and poured it into a measuring cup. He then put that into the bowl, watching the badder thicken up, sucking up the liquid.
"Okay, dude. Now we get to mix these!" Badgerclops grabbed a big, wooden spoon; he handed it to Mao Mao and smiled.
     "You get to stir!"
"Uh... Okay!" Mao Mao grabbed the spoon. Badgerclops then handed him the bowl of mix. Mao Mao grabbed it and let the spoon rest in the thick mix for a minute. Right before he began stirring,
"Oh no you don't!" Badgerclops snapped as he quickly grabbed the bowl from him.
"Uh- why'd ya do that?" Mao Mao looked at his empty hands and back up at his close friend in confusion.
"Those gloves! They're disgusting, dude! You're going to get all of your nasty germs in the cake!" Badgerclops scolded the cat, giving him a glare.
"Wh-what are you talking about? These gloves are perfectly fine!" Mao Mao tried to backtalk.
"Not true, man! You've never washed those things before! You do everything in those gross gloves!" Badgerclops complained.
"Pft! What are you insisting? Me TAKING off my GLOVES? HA! You wish, my amazing co-hero!" Mao Mao brushed off Badgerclops's complaints, as he sassily posed, giving his crush a smug look.
"Very flattering, but yes. I AM insisting you take off your gloves. You're gonna give us diseases if ya don't!" Badgerclops lectured in aggravation, bending down to the kitty's level.
"Fine!" Mao Mao gave in as he looked down at his gloved paws, and frowned.
"C'mon, Mao. Don't overreact! Your paws are just fine... I honestly think they're- pretty cute, heheheh~"
Badgerclops admitted nervously, as he looked to the side and gave a little chuckle.
Mao Mao gave a tiny smile, as his cheeks became a little red. 'H-he said they're cute? I'm not cute- but... He thinks I'm... Cute? Hehe-' Mao Mao began thinking about the words the other animal said.
"There!" Mao Mao happily said as he threw the gloves onto the dining table.
Badgerclops looked back down at him and gave a grin. He began complimenting the cat,
"See? Not so bad! Your lil' paws are to die for!" He grabbed Mao Mao's little paws and blushed a small bit.
"Hehe, whatever!" Mao Mao replied in a fluster. The male let go of his paws, then handed Mao Mao the bowl.
"Welp! You're ready now, cutie!" Badgerclops said cheerfully, still looking down at Mao Mao.
Mao Mao put the spoon in his paw, and tightly gripped the bottom of the bowl with his other paw. He kept the mixer, steadily, between his paw beans. He kept stirring faster and faster, until the badder was done being mixed with the liquid.
"Perfectly done!" Badgerclops cheered as he grabbed the bowl from him. He placed it on the countertop.
"It's egg time!" Badgerclops merrily yelled out as he busted two eggs open on the edge of the bowl, and slid their yolk into the container.
"Last few ingredients! First, flour. Then, the jelly!" Badgerclops said cheerfully as he grabbed the sack of  flour. He began to spill it into the bowl. As the powder spread into the air, the two coughed. The air then began clearing up. Badgerclops put that down, then grabbed the jelly. He scooped out a few spoonfuls of strawberry jelly and put it in the bowl. He stirred it and then threw it on into the oven.
"Now all that's left is waiting!" Badgerclops beamed in excitement, ready to see their masterpiece. Mao Mao looked delighted, seeing Badgerclops so happy.

Beeping could be heard coming from the kitchen. Mao Mao and Badgerclops were sitting beside each other at the dining table. Mao Mao had his head on Badgerclops's shoulder. Badgerclops was playing with Mao Mao's little paws. Badgerclops quickly lifted his head.
"Yay! It's all done, Mao!" He yelped in excitement. He put down Mao Mao's paws, and dashed over to the oven. He got out a mitten, and pulled out the hot, steaming treat. Sweet smelling fumes arose from the kitchen. Badgerclops licked his lips as he sat the container onto the dining table.
Mao Mao looked at the cake. Badgerclops then began covering the cake with vanilla icing.
"Heheh, what do ya think, lil' Mao?" Badgerclops asked as he finished up his work.
"Wow, Badgerclops, That looks delicious!" Mao Mao said in amazement. He was proud of Badgerclops for doing a great job on the dessert.
Badgerclops began to cut the white, creamy, jelly-filled pastry. Crumbs fell from the cake, onto the plate, as he sliced through the baked badder and strawberry, red jelly. He placed the piece on a separate plate, then handed it over to Mao Mao.
"Hope you enjoy!" Badgerclops said gaily, with a twinkling gleam on his face.
"I sure will!" Mao Mao delightfully replied, as he took a small bite of the sweet and savory baked good. Mao Mao pleasingly moaned,
"Mmm! This tastes sooo good, Badgerclops! Nice work!"
"Hehe, thanks, baby~" Badgerclops cooed, as he plopped down in the wooden chair, next to the dark cat.
The two sat and ate their well-made recipe together. They listened to the peaceful storm outside. They both relaxed with each other's company, and the sound of the falling raindrops on the rooftop.
'I wish we could sit here in the silence with each other forever,' Badgerclops peacefully thought to himself.
