Jhene POV:
WARNING: Explicit content
I had seen the way Sean had been looking at Kofi since the moment she got here. If his attention wasn't me, it was on her. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he started to drool. She looked great but I knew that wasn't the only reason he was staring at her.
He knew I saw him looking at her. He wanted me to see. He wanted me to react. He liked to play toxic mind games like that. That was one of the reasons why our relationship didn't work. Too many fucking mind games. Too much jealousy, too much dishonesty, too much possessiveness. Don't get me wrong, Sean wasn't a bad guy. The beginning of our relationship was great. We couldn't get enough of one another. Sadly, the honeymoon phase was just that, a phase. It came and went before we knew it. It was like we both knew we didn't love each other like before, but we didn't know how to let go. Not letting go when you know it's past time is a recipe for disaster.
We were broken up but that didn't mean we didn't still love each other. I wasn't in love with him, but it didn't mean I didn't want him. I wanted him, badly. And watching him eye Kofi like she could be his new potential play toy irked me.
"Two shots of Hennesy please," I told the bartender.
The bartender quickly poured the shots and slid them across the table to me.
Sean was talking to Kofi as she slowly sipped on her iced drink. Her face showed disinterest. Her eyes would dart around the club and land on mine every once in a while. Whatever Sean was saying to her, Kofi couldn't have cared less. Either he didn't notice or care that Kofi seemed like she'd rather be doing anything but be there talking to him. I figured it was the latter since he would try to get her attention back with small gentle touches on her arm or waist.
I turned back towards the bar and quickly threw back the two shots, welcoming the burning feeling. It didn't take a lot for me to get drunk. I blame it on the fact that I'm not very big. My 5'2" and just over 100 weighing ass could not handle a lot of alcohol. It didn't stop me from drinking more than I could handle though.
"One Manhatten please," a raspy voice said from beside me.
I could feel a smile creep onto my lips without me having the ability to stop it.
"Having fun?" I asked as I leant against the bar.
Kofi flashed me a quick smile as she took a sip of her new drink, "Yea, now that I'm talking to you," she seemed shocked by her words and quickly added, "I mean, it's just that, I don't have that much common with Sean."
A chuckle escaped my lips, "Yea, I could kind of sense you weren't really having the best time."
"Was it that obvious?"
I nodded my head, which made me notice how light it felt, "If it makes you feel any better, I don't think he noticed."
She just laughed and took another sip of her drink.
It's crazy to think how a week ago, she and I did not know each other. Now here she was, drinking with me and my ex-boyfriend in a club in LA.
"I don't know how you do it," she blurted.
My eyes found hers, "Do what?"
She rose her eyebrow at the people behind the VIP line. Security was keeping them from entering. Their phones were out as they took pictures of us with the flash on.
"Oh," I shrugged, "Guess I just got used to it. I just hope I turn out good in those pics."
"Are you serious?" Her eyes widen as she grabbed me gently by the arm, "Jhene-"
