Kofi POV:
My head was pounding from all the alcohol I had drunk the night before. The process of getting drunk and being drunk was so much more fun than the hangover. Every time I got a hangover, I would swear I would never drink again. But so far, I've broken that promise too many times to count.
I had just been dropped off at my apartment by Jhene's chauffeur. Last night, even though it started off not the greatest with Sean's appearance, was fun. After Jhene had returned from wherever she went with Sean, she asked me if I wanted to dip after Sean's performance. Whatever happened between them must of upset her because she had come back with her jaw clenched and a red face. When I had asked her if she was alright, she replied, "Yea, just a little tired."
It was clearly a lie but I didn't want to push her boundaries so I let it go.
Not going to lie, Sean killed his performance. He was only up there for about half an hour, but he had really hyped up the entire crowd. Jhene and I even had gotten up to dance. We thought we looked good as we moved our hips to the beat but I'm sure that we actually looked like two drunken fools.
Just as Jhene had said, we left right as Sean got off stage. She had gone to talk to him briefly before we escaped through the backdoor of the club. From there, Jhene had offered for me to spend the night at her place because it was late and she figured the ride back to my place wouldn't be "fun." I didn't fight her logic.
When we had gotten to her house, her very big house, by the way, she grabbed a bag of chips and put on a Disney movie.
"Put this on," she had told me as she handed me an oversized T-shirt that went down to my butt. On her, this shirt must have looked like a giant dress. When I'm home, I wear big T-shirts to bed with underwear only, but wearing it here made me feel a little uncomfortable. If I bent over, the shirt would rise over my ass. Jhene somehow could sense that I felt a little off so she told me not to worry, that she wouldn't be staring at my ass, and apologized for not having anything bigger for me to wear. It wasn't that I was big, but that I was definitely not the same size as Jhene.
We kicked off our shoes and took off our makeup and climbed ontop Jhene's reclining sofa. She pulled a blanket that was in a basket over our bodies so we could comfortably watch the movie. Though, we ended up talking for about an hour, which passed by really fast since we were drunk, before we ended up falling asleep on the couch.
From what I can remember, I had learned that Jhene loved Disney movies. She loved meditating and was learning how to do tarot card predictions. The most interesting things I learned was that; Jhene had a 4-year-old daughter, who was staying with her dad for the week, and that she had been married before. Needless to say, I was extremely fucking shocked. Like, I couldn't have been more surprised. She had given birth to her daughter, Namiko Love, when she was 20. Nami, as Jhene called her, wasn't planned. That I figured. Nonetheless, I could tell Jhene loved her more than anything in the world. There was a tenderness to her voice when she talked about Nami. It was cute.
Jhene's ex-husband wasn't her baby daddy. She had married her ex when Nami was 2. She didn't say much about him other than that he was a mistake but she didn't regret a thing.
I felt like a child sitting next to her. She sounded so wise when she spoke, as if she had already lived for a long time. My life wasn't nearly as interesting as hers. I work at my family's cafe and have small acting gigs on the side. I had been in a total of three relationships. The first one was when I was 16. That lasted for about a year. My next was when I was 19 and lasted until I was 21. My boyfriend had been older and had moved to a different state after graduating from college and decided it would be best to end things. That hurt a lot at the time but I had agreed it was for the best. My last relationship was when I was 22 and lasted until I was 24. It ended about 5 months ago. I rarely speak about this relationship. When Jhene asked me about my past relationships, I had conveniently left this one out. It was too early in our friendship for her to find out about my dark past.
I had woken up this morning to Jhene making tea and preparing breakfast or toast and eggs. She had apologized for the lack of food but explained that she doesn't keep a lot of food in the fridge when her daughter is at her dad's. Her explanation for this was that she tries to get as much work done as she can when her daughters not here so that she can spend time with her when she gets back. Because of that, she mostly eats delivery food when shes at the studio.
Jhene really had a lot of sides to her. All good so far. Not that I expected her to have a bad side.
I didn't stay long at Jhene's house because I was going to go back and help at the Cafe. Jhene had insisted that her driver give me a ride even though I said I didn't mind getting an Uber. She wouldn't have it though.
Another day of working at the cafe with a hangover passed. I really have to stop doing this to myself. Hangover me is not pleasant.
But, I somehow managed to get through it and passed out on my bed as soon as I got home. I woke up the next day around 6:00 am since I had my audition at 8:00 am.
I rehearsed my lines a little more before I left my apartment at 7:10 am so I could get to the audition on time.
When I first had started doing auditions, I would sometimes get so nervous that I'd forget my lines. Thankfully, I had grown past that. I was especially grateful today for my growth because I hadn't forgotten a single line. Later on that day, I had received a phone call saying I was invited to the callback session which basically meant I had to audition again. Getting invited to a callback session was a good thing, it meant they liked me.
When I had gotten back to my apartment, my best friend/roommate, Melissa, was finally back from her trip.
I just had gotten to tell her about what happened with Jhene last night when she caught me off.
"You met Big Sean?!" She shrieked as she looked at me enthusiastically.
Her dark brown eyes, the same color of her skin, glimmered at me as she waited for a response.
"Yes, Mel. I met Big Sean," I sighed, not as enthused.
"So," she wiggled her eyebrows, "Did you find out why they call him Big Sean?"
I knew what she was hinting at and it clearly wasn't because of his size since him and I were the same height.
I slapped her lightly on the arm and feigned disgust, "Girl, as if I wanted to find out."
Her lips curved into a slight smirk, "I'm sure it's big. I definitely want to find out, put me on with Jhene so I can put Sean onto this pussy."
"Melissa! You nasty motherfucker," I bursted out laughing.
Melissa had no filter, what so ever. But that's why I loved her. She would say what was on her mind and no less.
She just shrugged and leaned back on the sofa we were sitting on, "So anything else happen?"
I told her how Jhene and Sean disappeared and how she came back upset. She joked that Sean and her were probably going to fuck and that Jhene was upset that they ran out of time. I didn't find the joke funny.
"So, when you gonna see ya new friend again," she asked.
"I don't know but hopefully not when your vulgar ass is around, you'll scare her off," I joked.
Apparently, she didn't find it funny because I was hit in the face with a pillow.
"But seriously, I don't know. I don't expect her to invite me out every week or something. I think she just wanted company last night since her daughter's at her dads," I confessed.
It made me a little sad to think about. Maybe her inviting me out was a one-time thing. I really hoped it wasn't, but I couldn't expect for Jhene to make time for me on her busy schedule.
