Once I woke I kept my breathing steady and my eyes closed, just as Batman taught me, so I could survey my surroundings without anyone noticing that I'm actually awake.
I noticed that I was in a lot of pain, like I had fallen and landed on my back. I sensed that my domino mask was still on my face, because well only certain people can remove it such as Batman, me, and Alfred. Not even batgirl has the access. It requires a Touch ID or else it'll send an electric shock through the attacker, it was quite useful when the joker had me, and he tried to take off my mask, it's impossible unless you have one of the required fingerprints.
The next thing I noticed was the smell of bleach and cleaners, mixed in with a sick smell, like a hospital. This confused me because bats would never take me to the hospital while I was in my suit.
Confirming with my other senses that I was alone, I opened my eyes, the white film opening like they followed my eyes.
I looked around the room, confirming my suspicions that I was in a hospital, the white and over abundance of machinery made that quite clear. The sound of the heart monitor remained steady, as I continued to look around my room.
I found a window, from what I could see it looked like New York, but the buildings were all weird, and the twin towers weren't there. There was also a huge ugly building with an 'A' on it.
A sudden realization struck me. Hadn't Klarion said that he was sending me to a place with out heroes? That couldn't be true, every alternate dimension that Batman has ever talked about has had some variation of the league whether they were good or bad.
I looked down, and I still had my costume on, not a scratch on it, which was strange, but my hands were constricted.
They must have thought I was some loony.
I was so distracted by my thoughts I hadn't heard footsteps sounding down the hall until they were right outside my door. I figured I had about five seconds until they entered the room, and I couldn't get out fast enough but there wasn't enough time to pretend I was asleep all this time so I just kept my head up as the person opened the door.
The man who entered had salt and pepper hair, but he looked kind, and relaxed.
"Oh good you're awake, you gave us quite the scare"
"How" my voice croaked making me wonder how long I had been out. "How long was I out? Where am I? Who are you?"
The doctor just chuckled. "Well you're at The New York General Hospital" New York I knew it. "You've been out for just over twenty four hours, and I'm Doctor Glade, can you tell me your name?"
"R-robin"
"No last name? Where are your parents?"
"Nope, thats classified."
"Are you in any trouble?"
"Not that I'm currently aware of"
"Can you tell me why you showed up in Central Park with what looked to be a concussion?"
"Not really"
"Can you tell me anything else besides your first name"
"No"
"We tried to get that mask off you, but one of the nurses got a pretty nasty shock, can you explain that?"
"You shouldn't have touched my mask."
The doctor seemed to take a deep breath.
"Come on kid work with me here"
"Maybe I'd be more cooperative if my hands weren't handcuffed to the bed" I said pointedly.
Of coarse I had no intention of actually cooperating but it was part of my plan, I just needed the cuffs off.
"Oh" he seemed to realize that I still had them on. "Sorry about that, just a necessary precaution"
"It's fine I guess" he undid the cuffs and I flexed my fingers.
"We figured that we'd just leave you in your costume because we couldn't figure out how to get it off"
I scoffed. Of coarse they didn't know how to take my costume off, I couldn't make it that easy, only I know how to take it off, unless you knew how to take off my utility belt which only Batman and Alfred know of to do so.. they only use it when I need medical attention and I can't take it off myself.
"We noticed that you're costume was made out of Kevlar, how did you get it?"
I just shrugged. I knew Kevlar was expensive but when you live with a billionaire it doesn't really matter.
"Fine well since you won't answer any of my questions, I have other patients I need to attend to." The man seemed frustrated to no end but if my theory was correct, I think I'm in an alternate dimension.
