To his unpleasant surprise

Joshua's POV

Seeing her so badly hungover, I felt bad for her. It was clearly indicating that she usually doesn't get boozed and is not aware of the consequences.

I replied to her dazed state as I couldn't take my eyes off her, 'Yeah beautiful, it's me.' Even the unstable her was so gorgeous. It is true that when I saw her at my housings' staircase, I was struck by her sophisticated self. Even now, her babbling, boozed state is triggering something inside me.

Meanwhile, Annalise, my sister-in-law was raking Augustina to become sober.

It all started when...

Flashback:~

Joshua was talking to James Wattson, his friend as well as a client. As they were talking, Joshua suddenly noticed his friend being distracted and gazing at something or someone at regular intervals. Joshua's lawyer brain suggested at that moment, something.

He somehow sensed by James' usual playboy attitude and circumstances that some new chick must have caught his eye. Joshua scrunched his nose. This guy is impossible to be controlled...

And then and then his thought was confirmed by Jame's sudden excuse to go to the washroom.

What he saw next, was eye-popping.

He trotted towards Augustina and Jame's duo and dragged James out. He was freaking going to take advantage of her! And obviously, no girl would like to sleep with a guy in boozed circumstances!!

Somehow Annalise noticed it too and grabbed Augustina and tried to put some sense into her.

Ended.

Augustina was sober...I guess. 'Cause, she was trying to understand what was going on.

Annalise was calm now and said,
'Tins...you were going to...you know...back to James.'

Augustina nearly sobered, gasped. Then, she said, 'Was it so?'

'Tina! It was not only that you were going back but he was..going to take advantage of you...again'

My ears perked up at the word 'again.'

What does it mean...Do James and Augustina know each other? That is why Annalise is so much freaked out about it? I must know....but not now.

'Anne...' I called Annalise.

'Hmm?'

'Augustina stays in my apartment, next door to me...do you think we should take her to her flat room?'

'Yeah! Tomorrow's Sunday...I mean today... it's half past one after all.'

'Let's go then...'

Anne and I half carried, half trotted Augustina to my car. She was asleep. I guess it's due to exhaustion.

The whole ride both of us (Anne and me) kept exchanging glances and kept an eye on Tina. Oof...even her sleeping state is making me feel crazy.

We reached our housing complex. I and Anne again carried her to her apartment. Anne knows her better...she even knew her keys and stuff. When I asked her about it, Anne replied in a hushed voice,' Idiot! She is my best friend since sixth grade!'

That answered some of my questions.

Her pet dog was overjoyed seeing Augustina but he was confused seeing me. He didn't object to my arrival into his territory but he inspected me thoroughly before he was fully satisfied.

Anne laid Augustina on her bed, tucked her in and then turned and ordered me to switch on the heater. I scoffed at her but still did it. I deserve to tease my sis-in-law.

Rufus...or what was his name..quickly climbed the bed and snuggled close to Tina....oh..how I wished it was me...

Oi Brain! Stop it!! Calm your raging hormones!

Anne was doing some small chores and then she hurried towards me and said,' I am going back to the party. Brendon needs me there. Stay here for a while and make sure she gets things that are needed. I have prepared some lemon water that will help her to decrease the headache she will be getting tomorrow morning. Tell her that, okay?'

I nodded. I have to text Brendon too in case he searches for me.

Anne bid me goodbye and strutted towards the door. The clicking of the door signified that she is out from the room.

That sound made Augustina shuffle in her sleep. I sat beside her bed on a chair. She is so adorable!

She was mumbling something which was quite incoherent but I could make some words
which surprised me a lot..'Josh is so...so..cute.'

To be completely honest...I am flattered. But my mind went somewhere else...

Why do I feel so connected to her? Is there a future between us?
