There's A Monster In My Head

There's a monster

In my head

As I lay here

In my bed

Stars and sky

Don’t follow me

River roar

They come to be

Like the razor

That I hold

All my lies

I have told

Scars have come

Not to bother me

Sun and moon

They chide on me

Hidden deep

Within my head

I have sought

To see my end

You can’t say

You care for me

When I know

Its not meant to be

Every lie

You’ve ever told

Every secret

I’ve left to hold

The monsters free

They come to me

They whisper words

That I’m not free

I die inside

They love the blood

Tears they flow

Just like a flood

I get the courage

To see it through

That is when

I laid eyes on you

You’re beauty was

Just like a single rose

Like blood red petals

My love will grow

You’re laugh was like

A ringing bell

When first I saw

I sure fell

You lips as plump

As a plum

Pink as a tulip

You strike me dumb

You hair so soft

Just like a feather

You hold me tight

Just like a tether

You’ve held me in

You’re arms so strong

To tame this beast

I must belong

To you my love

Is why I write

This poem here

In my room tonight

I love you as much

As the heart will allow

Without you

I’m sure to bow

Like a dead tree

In the wind

I am sure to break

Sure to be skinned

But for you

I am sure to love

As long as the white feathers

Are on the dove

There's no monster

In my head

You are here

So my story may end...
