"I don't think we'll need to wrap your ankle," Agnes said after examining Eulia's ankle. "It will be weak for a while and will twist if you step too quickly on an uneven surface and that will hurt."
"I thought wrapping would help stabilize it," Phoebe asked.
"It could, but it also slows strengthening. Just curb your usual enthusiasm, slow down a bit."
"I'll be downright sedate. Besides after eating your delicious dinner in not up to much," Eulia teased.
"I'll get a couple cots out of storage and you can party out here, just keep the noise down to a dull roar."
They put the cots in the sitting room and got blankets out of the linen closet. "We haven't done this in a while," Eulia said.
"It always was fun," Phoebe said.
"At midnight we'll both be seventeen," Eulia said.
"I'm only two and a half weeks older than you. Has my brother actually proposed?"
"Even asked Ian, I said yes."
"If this gets out it would not bode well for either of you."
"I never imagined that I would be married. Indentured servants aren't allowed to marry."
"Apprentices aren't either, and not outside the guild," Phoebe said. They continued their conversation and engaged in a pillow fight then finally settling down. It was nearly dawn when Eulia left her bed for a trip to the outhouse. She was walking back to the house and saw a large number of tiny floating lights in a group of bushes. At first she though it was fireflies but the lights were brighter and steadier then fireflies. She approached the bush slowly. Some of the sparking lights were pink, others white. She thought she saw something glowing in the bush and knelt. She gasped when she saw the tiny dragon. It was glowing and appeared to be the source of the sparkling lights. The dragon was an iridescent pink.
"Are you hurt?" she whispered. She cupped the tiny dragon in her right hand and the dragon's tail wrapped around her wrist.
"Chirrup!" the dragon said weakly.
Very carefully she walked back to the house and gently placed it on her pillow and climbed back into the cot. "I'm going to call you Pinkey." The dragon moved closer to her nuzzling her face. "I love you too Pinkey." Then she slept. Phoebe was the first to awaken and was shocked to see Eulia sleeping with a tiny dragon and other dragons perched on the windowsills apparently waiting. She crawled out of her cot and gently shook her companion.
"Euly, where did you find the tiny dragon?"
"I think she's hurt."
"It's a girl dragon?"
"It was pink, but I really don't know. I'm sure Agnes will know."
"Know what?" Agnes said as she walked into the room and saw all the tiny dragons perched on her windowsills and the other dragon curled up laying on Eulia's pillow. "Euly, you have a butterfly dragon on your pillow."
"I think it's hurt. Can we help it?"
Agnes picked up the dragon holding it her hands, "Good girl, let me check you over."
"Where did you find her?" Phoebe asked.
"Out in the bushes, she was glowing."
"She's been hurt, a hawk most likely and the wound is infected."
"Can we help?" Phoebe asked.
"Yes, we can do a laying-of-hands and apply a cream made of Ledum and Silicea."
