The dragons circled high in the sky over over a large bay of open water. "That's Bountiful Bay Jolene said to Eulia and those islands Grand Isle and Bell Isle."
"Which one are we going to?" Eulia asked.
"Neither, we are going to cross Turnagain bay and land in Old Novi. We're invisible, almost invisible." As they circled down Jolene shouted, "I got them Mom. And the butterfly dragons too." Then turning to Eulia, "That's my Mom, everyone calls her Jody or Tiger." They landed and were immediately surrounded by fifteen dragon riders.
"This is my Mom," Erika said, "I call her Mom the rest of you pion's call her Mother Kay."
"You're such a goon Erika," Gabriella said. The introduction were completed and lots of hugs exchanged then Gabriella, Allie, Ellie and Ericka remounted their dragons and rose into the air and were gone.
"Where did they go?" Phoebe asked.
"They live in Fareast," Jolene replied. "They have families there and make up our second coven, Gemma's coven. "You will meet them all soon enough."
"You two will begin the fourth coven," Agnes said.
"We are all going to stay with my Mom," Jo said, "She's got lots of room."
"How many dragon riders are there?" Phoebe asked.
"With you two twenty-four," Jody replied, "the third coven is Jeri's and she lives in Ann Arbor near the delta."
"I never thought there were so many dragon riders," Eulia said.
"Tomorrow we will go to Coven House," Jody said, "we have a request to make of you. Mother Agnes mentioned you need to get back home the following day."
The next morning after rather chaotic breakfast with Jody's family Jo said, "Mother Agnes and Mother Kate are already at coven house, Odie, Teddi and Addie are going to walk over with us. You'll like them. Teddi and Addie can get really wild."
"Is Becky coming?" Eulia asked.
"No, Mother Kate's twins will keep her occupied. My sisters have a bunch of little girls in their families so she will be safe and quite busy. They love baby sitting, at least her daughter does." More introductions followed as the growing group of dragon riders boarded the ferry to Grand Isle. They were dressed in colorful dresses and barefoot as they walked to Coven House. Eulia really liked teasing banter of the older dragon riders and felt a connection with them. Then met in the cloister garden.
"Welcome to the coven sister-daughters," Kate said softly, "Elodia has a gift for both of you, Odie go ahead and present the medallions." Elodia smiled brightly as she placed a necklace and medallion on Eulia and Phoebe.
"We are sisters now and forever," Elodia whispered. "Mother Agnes will instruct you on the medallion later."
"Now you must be wondering why you are here," Agnes said. Eulia and Phoebe nodded. "Normally a new dragon rider is encouraged to touch a group of eggs to see if one reacts. But today we only have one egg. It's an unusual egg and our coven had to induce it into torpor to prevent hatching."
"It has a double yoke," Kate whispered, "dragons from double yoke eggs never survive hatching. We have held the egg in torpor for fifty years. The previous head of our order, Mother Ruth, said that two young women traveling with butterfly dragons would have the ability to free the dragons. It is not an assured thing. If you fail you may not get a second chance to have a dragon."
"Double yoke eggs are always twins," Elodia said, "sometimes they are co-joined. They always die while hatching."
"I've freed twin chicks from double yoke eggs on our farm," Eulia said. "Fee would you like to try?" Phoebe nodded.
