I walk aimless through the empty halls. I don't exactly want to be alone in my room right now. My room's too big to be alone in. I hate big spaces when I'm alone.
I go to my room anyways. My room is light pink, it doesn't have anything in it except for a bed with a green quilt, and a white dresser.
I walk over to the bed and take the quilt off. I tie two corners of the large quilt to the end posts on the bed, and I shut the other end in the empty dresser. I made a blanket fort.
I grab a few pillows, and crawl inside the fort. The small area makes me feel safe. I also feel safe around Teagan.
I hear the door open a smudge. "Can I come in?" I hear a female voice asked. I pop my head out from under the fort. It's Teagans friend or maybe it's her sister, but it's Kacey. "Yeah okay," I respond.
Kacey walks into the room and comes in the fort with me. "Are you sure that you want to come to Alaska with us?" Kacey shoots the question. "Yes" I whisper. "It's not going to be fun, it's going to be scary," Kacey reminds. "I know already," I respond.
Kacey makes me kind of nervous, she's almost too nice and I'm not used to nice. "You remind me of how Teagan used to be, do you know that?" Kacey asks. "No I didn't know that," I respond. "Why do I remind you of who she used to be?" I add. Kacey looks at me, she looks kind of upset.
"Before the war began Teagan could bring a smile to anyone just by talking to them. Teagan was always happy even when there was shit going on all around her in every way. She was strong and determined and she never really cried," Kacey speaks. Kacey wipes a few tears out of her eyes.
"Now we can barely get a smile out of Teagan," Kacey whispers. I give Kacey a hug. "You made Teagan smile more than she has in a very long time," Kacey adds. "I don't know what to say," I state. "You don't have to say anything, I just wanted to say thank you," Kacey remarks.
I look at my fit bit, it's nine-thirty already. "You look tired," Kacey remarks. "That's because I am tired," I state. "Are you sleeping on the floor?" Kacey questions. "Yes, the bed is too big," I mutter. "That's a bad thing?" Kacey asks. "Big spaces scare me and this room is to big," I mumble.
"There should be an extra blanket in the bathroom closet," Kacey remarks. I'm surprised that she didn't make fun of me, most people do. "Thanks for telling me," I thank Kacey. "No problem kiddo. I'm going to go back to my room," Kacey responds.
Kacey gets out of the fort, I follow behind her. "Night Alex," Kacey speaks. "Night" I reply. Kacey walks out of my room.
I stumble over to the restroom and open the closet. Inside the small closet I find toiletries and a fuzzy, navy blue, blanket.
I take the blanket out and over to my fort. I curl up in the fort with the blanket wrapped around me, and I fall asleep.
