You said many things
Some so sweet and some seemed to sting
Promises of forever after
Late nights filled with laughter
Boisterous colours and permanent partners
A blinding sight from just how bright
We seemed to be.
Then something turned
A spring? A piston? A bolt?
Nights of laughter were drained of colour
An occasional "Hello, how are you?"
And the robotic, "I'm fine, how are you?"
Slowly driving down an empty highway at night
A ghost as a partner
And a full bottle of vodka
Where did it go wrong?
What changed?
Maybe the setting, maybe the frame
I don't think there's anyone to blame
But I learned my lesson - painfully so
There are no friends
in the game.
