Roger's POV
I was at Deck 7 again. This time, with duct tape. I struggled to use the duct tape and apply it on the ruptures of the raft. I was trying to do the smaller ones first but even they were difficult. As I applied a piece of it on the last one of the small ruptures, I screamed at the top of my lungs as pain suddenly washed all over my right arm and I was about to get up when I saw the lights around me flickering for a second before dying out completely.
At that awfully inconvenient time, my arm started to go through agony suddenly which made me scream but the pain just disappeared once I readjusted the position it was in. I knew by then that Walter had found out my location.
I laid down on my side and was about to put the life raft on me to hide but that instant he opened a door and stepped out on the open Deck. I froze again. He came to the exact point where I screamed. He was right in front of me, just inches away. Then, his back bent and he just spread his hand out towards the floor, in a direction different to where I was lying.
In a split second, he grabbed my throat and lifted me in the air as I began to choke but since my legs were free, I took the risk and kicked him in the face as he dropped me to the floor. I ran to the stairs inside the Deck connecting all the other decks together but then stopped upon noticing the kitchen. I ran to it and instantly grabbed the largest knife and once I came back out, I saw him standing in the hallway a few feet away and then I threw the knife at him.
It went through his head and for a nanosecond, maybe, I thought I was safe but then I was pushed back about ten feet. The feeling was utterly unusual. It was as if an overwhelming amount of energy was pushed into me but at the same time, a massive amount was taken away from my body as I was sent flying.
I felt severe pain in my arm as I laid on the floor when some blood came escaped through my mouth.
I sat up and saw him lying on the floor, holding his head in pain and the dark purple aura around him was no longer there. The whole hallway had been destroyed, as if a bomb exploded in the place Walter was lying and I took that chance to rush down the stairs and find a place to hide.
I couldn't believe he was still alive even though the knife had penetrated his head.
__________________Once I felt it was safe to go back up, I did so as slow and quietly as humanly possible because I wasn't sure if my theory about him was correct.
Once I stepped out on Deck 7, near the raft I saw Walter's back facing me. He was munching on Drew's arm but a second after I arrived, he threw it away in distaste. I stayed still, making even my breathing as unnoticeable as possible and I made sure to stay on the stairs behind me and to the right of the door which led to the inside to give him way. Those stairs led to Deck 8 and Deck 8 only. I then silently took out a coin I found in my pocket and dropped it down to the main deck and his head perked up almost immediately. He turned around but I remained still as he came rushing at me.
He simply went inside to get to the dog-legged staircase to get to the main deck and investigate the noise without noticing me even though I was just about five feet away. As if I didn't exist. And that proved my theory.
He's blind.
I then heard a loud roar from down below and looked at him from above to see that he was roaring at nothing and a few metres away from the coin I threw as he kept roaring which confused me for a second before I realized that he was trying to find me. I rushed to fix the life raft as soon I saw him going over to the other side of the ship. I was nearly out of duct tape once I was done with the big ruptures. All I needed then were an air pump and a chain for the crane to lower the raft into the water.
I had to move the crane facing the sea towards my raft first and I knew that it would make noise but I risked it because I knew that Walter was on the other side of the ship. I came to the controls of the crane and pushed one of the two levers to the left while shaking. The noise it made was much louder than expected but I kept going.
Until it stopped working along with the lights.
