Filak woke up to his alarm clock he set up on his phone. Agents have phones, but usually hide them and disable them when in operations. He has never felt so refreshed in the whole lifetime of his service.
He sat upright, looking around his room. Burgundy rubbed his eyes a bit, opening them a tiny bit, and blindly trying to disable his alarm. After a minute of trying he finally did it, and got up, opening the curtains to reveal the untouched forest and slight view of the mountains and a bit of the base. It was really sunny. Filak's room was stylish and basic. He had a big double bed with a very comfy mattress and pillow, and there was a side table with a lamp.Look to the right and you'll see a wall. The wall has the UF flag, plus the wall is also the outer wall of the bathroom, the door of which is next to the entrance to the apartment! Next to the apartment entrance is also a few shelves in which Burgundy stored his clothes and other things he put on. There was also a charger for mobile phones, a TV for some reason, and a computer. A laptop, but hey it's something. So Filak got up, stretched, and went to do his morning routine. Burgundy doesn't really shave, because he had never had any facial hair grow. So he just washed up, and brushed his teeth. The base had already prepared him some fresh clothes as they know his measurements. Filak dressed and went to the cafe to eat. It wasn't really quiet nor loud at the cafe. Though Helian could be seen putting loads of bacon on her plate with a hungry excited smile is the first thing Filak notices when entering, and looked around a bit, noticing Saiga, Callhoun, an another girl in military uniform, to which Filak thought "Well I guess times are desperate... You will see quite a lot of women fighting alongside men these days." Gyurza was outside training his platoon, he saw it out the window, and decided to get some food for himself, getting a tray and standing next to commander Helian, which was giggling to herself like a little girl while still picking out loads of bacon. Filak looked at the stack and decided to greet her.
"Good morning, Miss Heli-"
Filak was cut short by her sudden high pitched yelp, as she shaked a bit, stopping her "bacon scavenging". She slowly turned her head to look at Burgundy, Filak smiled once she turned her head fully and finished his "Good morning!" Then she got a bit red, quickly got a spoonful of omelette next to her mountain of bacon, took the tray, and ran off to the furthest from Filak table. Now Filak was actually nervous and sweating, he thinks she hates him. While Burgundy picked out some food for himself, which is pretty balanced, Helian slammed her head against the table, mumbling under her nose and repeating the word "stupid" to herself. Now, Saiga could hear that, and thought that Filak did something wrong during the meeting. Callhoun on the other hand, who was right next to Helian thought that she was too embarrassed in front of Filak with uncombed hair! And the other girl on at the next table to Saiga was just eating. Lord knows what was going through her mind.
Out of the blue, a couple of squad leaders who were talking to each other went in, they were talking about tactics and stuff. The 3 leaders were followed by a man with aviator glasses on and really light clothing - he only had a military tee on and Crye Precision pants! Plus he looks really worked out, like your usual gym trainer you see in your local gym. And then Helian looked out to see the people, and did a concentrated gasp and yelled out:
"DAMLER NO GLASSES IN BUILDINGS!"
Everyone, including Filak turned to Helen, the trio and the man in glasses, took them off, sighing and putting them in his pouch.
"We told you, Damler, she would notice and yell..."
The man who is presumed Damler replied with a slightly disappointed way.
"Whatever, can't I live here in style?"
Helian looked accomplished and proud of herself now, clenching her fists in "victory", clearly forgetting what happened in the last 10 minutes. As to what Callhoun sighed and said "Getting everything in the last 10 minutes just for a small inconvenience...?"
And Helian looked at him back with a killer smile, getting red again. Filak thought to himself after witnessing this scene "Damn, I expected a more serious life here..."
The quiet girl suddenly waved her hand at Filak, signaling to come to her.Filak decided to do so, and sat in front of her. She instantly went off the bat.
"Morning, newbie, I'm Orsis."
"Orsis? Nice name, Orsis..."
"Not really, it's my surname, just like Saiga, Gyurza, Damler, whatever... Only people to present their names are Callhoun, commander, and you."
Filak looked strangely at her for a bit.
"As if you know my name, miss...?"
"Hell yeah I do, I read about you in the files! You're a knocker for a 19-year-old-newbie spy!"
Filak was pretty shocked to the compliment.
"Well uh... thanks."
Burgundy slowly began eating at the same pace as her, thinking about some stuff.
"Say, Orsis..."
Lady Orsis stopped taking in noodles and looked up at Filak, who was just eating salad.
"Why are you so shy? Or is it just your personality?? I mean, you just didn't give a damn in the whole globe about what was happenin'!"
Orsis quickly stuffed her mouth, chewed and swallowed, and replied.
"Well, I'm just not the type to stick in other's business."
"The "don't stick your nose in other's business" manner?"
Orsis snapped her fingers at Filak, adding up: "Bingo! Has anyone told you that you're smart for a 19 year old?"
"Actually yeah, Saiga did..."
"Alright now you took that last sentence way too seriously, ease it up and don't actually take a chair next time Helian asks you to take a seat."
Filak chuckled a bit, barely holding back.
"Alright I won't..."
"Anyway, heard you killed a guy on the head using a pistol in a base from 80 meters! That's pretty damn skilled, you know ballistics huh?"
Filak nodded a bit, thinking about it, and then nodded a few more times, faster.
"We're on the same level, Burgundy! Snipers need to know their ballistics as well!"
"That's pretty cool!"
Orsis took a paper towel and cleaned her face a bit from any dirty spots, got up, seeing that Filak already finished long ago.
"Let's go take this talk outside, we can watch Gyurza's troops train in the meantime, too."
Outside, Gyurza was ruling his platoon around the bootcamp, and ordering them to either stop to do a push up or to keep going. The ground of the bootcamp was covered in mattresses, so if someone fell from the heights, they didn't harm themselves.
"Morning Gyurza!"
Filak remembered that Gyurza's here after Orsis greeted him, and quickly but stuttering said so too.
"M-Morning lieutenant!"
Gyurza heard them, and turned around to look at them.
"Ah good morning Orsis and Filak! Seems like you made a new friend huh?"
Filak smiled and nodded, as Gyurza shook his arm and then went back to overlooking training. Orsis then began questioning Filak.
"Commander seems kinda upset about you, did you do something bad to her?"
Filak shook his head, still confused.
"Nu-uh, confused by why she is mad at me in the first place. But I must say her being red is kinda fitting for her character...Just feels like it fits."
Orsis nodded to his reply a bit.
"You see, she never acted like that before! You pulled her "special trigger" I think, where she had never been in such a situation before. So that's why she's reacting like that, her mind never experienced something like it."
"Ah so THAT'S why... Callhoun told me something like it yesterday too."
"Seems like me and Callhoun are on the same wavelength with the answer to this "riddle"."
Filak thought a bit, as they both were walking around the building.
"Say, Orsis, are you a psychologist?"
"Oh you bet I am."
Filak got a bunch of answers to some of his questions about her.
"That explains your behavior and your straightforward answers to my questions about Helian's emotions."
Orsis nodded to his statement. But Filak had even more questions now.
"Miss Orsis, who is "Damler"?"
Orsis sat down on a bench with Filak, sighing.
"Basically - Damler is the base "delinquent" machinegunner. You know these Galac-tac armored helmets and the M249 or COLT LMG machineguns? Well he usually rocks these during battle! Good thing we are squadmates so I never get in trouble with him."
Filak didn't expect such an answer.
"Base delinquent? That's... interesting."
"Oh ho ho, don't ask about the details. His real nice side is in battle."
Filak nodded, hoping it's true. Orsis got up.
"Anyway, let's go. I got something to show you that you might like."
"Alright, lead the way."
