3. A Decision❓

''Congrats Mira kutty. I am really proud of you ma. Do they cover health insurance and all for your stay in Boston? When do you have to leave ma?'' Ram asked Mira.

''Thanks pa. From what I have read, health insurance and accommodation is covered for the training or any travel purposes. I will ask Anisha and confirm anyway. The training starts mid-July, so next month. But Appa, Anisha also said that the salary will only be a small increment from now, so I am not too sure...'' Mira said

''Yea, they will only raise it with experience ma, don't worry.'' Ram said.

''Ram, I want to talk to her also, pass me the phone.'' Sudha said to Ram.

Ram passed the phone to Sudha.

''Miru, you know Padma aunty's son, Vikranth right? He also stays in Boston. See, six months is too long ma, I will speak to Padma and tell her to inform Vikranth. I don't know anyone else that lives there. Right Ram?'' Sudha said.

''Oh...but I thought Vikranth was in Chicago? When did he move?'', Mira asked.

Vikranth was the eldest son of Gopal and Padma. He had studied in Chicago and worked there for a while. Gopal also worked in the Foreign Services and his friendship with Ram and his family go all the way back to the 1990s, even before Mira was born and when Vikranth was a small child. Gopal had another son whose name was Srikanth. Even though she had only met them a few times, Mira was also very fond of Gopal uncle and Padma aunty who was extremely sweet to her, note that Mira once had a huge crush on their son Vikranth too...more on that later... 😉😉

''He moved last year itself Miru, Padma told me it was also because of his job. Already you have lost lots of weight, I don't know how you will manage there on your own for six months. So it's good if we have some family or friends to check up on you.'' Sudha said.

''Amma amma, relax. It's not like I am going abroad for the first time. Since I have managed three years alone here, I am sure I can manage six months there. And time will fly ma, don't worry.'' Mira consoled Sudha.

''Seri ma. You take rest. You gave Preeti the snacks I bought right?'' Sudha asked.

''Ya ma, she said thanks and that cow ate it all...haha!'' Mira laughed and said.

''Ok Miru, update us later with your training details,good night.'' Ram said.

After the call with her parents, Mira told Preeti about the post offer.

''Wow dude! That's great news! My girl just got promoted! OMG we should celebrate! Let me inform the other girls too!'' Preeti exclaimed

''Wait wait Preeee! I have to undergo compulsory training in Boston for six months first, only then I can join here as the Business Rep.'' said Mira.

Preeti's smile suddenly dropped and she said, ''What? Does that mean I have to live here alone? When do you have to go? Besides, I still have two months left to complete my degree. Don't tell me you're not gonna be here for my graduation!'' exclaimed Preeti.

''I'm sorry Preeti, but it's a rare opportunity and I don't want to be an associate forever!'' Mira said.

''This is not done Miru! Can you go after two months please?'' Preeti said and frowned

Mira answered ''Sadly I can't do anything about the....'', just then a loud screeching sound appeared from their bedroom
