Caspian was watching the stars. He could see all the constellations the professor had showed him since he was young. His life had taken a big turn. No more stargazing with the professor, No more servants, No more family.

He missed his family. Truly, he missed uncle Miraz and his aunt, he missed the professor but above all he missed the father he had never known.

He heard something moving behind him.  Crack.

Adelaide.

She walked up the hill and stood before him. Her hair looked white in the moonlight, which made a beautiful contrast with her white dress. She looked like a godess.

'Hey' She sat down beside him.  It was completely silent around them. The slightest movement could be heard.

'Hey' He replied. After their little affair in the room he didn't think she'd want to talk to them.

They both looked at eachother. Taking in eachothers features. Imprinting it in their minds. It was their silent apology. Her look said more than she could ever say in words.

'The professor used to take me stargazing till deep in the night.' He whispered. 'When we escaped, I first thought he would take me stargazing, but instead he took me to your dungeon.'

He looked away, back to the stars.
'Do you miss it? Your luxury life?'
She asked him. There was no judgement on her face.

'I can't say that I don't miss it, but now I can finally see the way things were. My uncle was only nice so that I would never suspect a thing. It always felt fake in the castle, now the world seems real.' His accent was clearly showing, like most moments when he was caught off guard. 'Mostly I miss the feeling of being wanted. Eventhough it was fake I had a feeling that I was part of something.'

He looked sad, but she had no idea how to cheer him up.

'I understand. One thing you still forget is that you are also wanted here. You may not be part of something yet, but that will not take long. Narnia needs you, Trufflehunter needs you, The professor needs you and I also need you.'

He looked down at her with a strange look, she couldn't quite place it. His face was blank but his eyes were sparkling. He moved a little closer and she could feel the warmth radiating from his skin.

'Did you know my father?' He looked a bit hopefull.

'No, I did not. I'm sorry'

'Don't be. Generally, do you remember a lot about your past? or does it all fade away?' He softly smiled at her.

'Not everything, but I remember most'.

She told him about the stone table and the kings an queens. When she was finished he looked at her with admiration.

'So you're telling me that you started a whole rebellion on your own? Impressive.' He praised.

'All when you weren't even born yet.' She grinned proudly. 'I perfectioned my fighting skills, because the magic was gone.'

'I would like to test that' He smirked.

'First thing tomorrow, after I bandaged my ankle.' She quickly replied.

His face fell.
'What was it like in that dungeon?' He whispered. The air looked thicker.

She kept completely silent, but still he wanted to know. What horrors had Miraz bestowed upon her? What made her like this? He wanted to see the real Adelaide. Still, she didn't say a thing and stared into the dark.

'Adelaide....' He put a hand on her shoulder. 'Is it that bad?'

She swallowed harshly and looked up at him. He could see it. Some part of her was broken.

'It was hell.' Tears were already rising to the surface. She didn't want to cry in fron of him so she swallowed again. 'The beatings were bad, but the loneliness was worse. I started making stories in my head and at a certain point I couldn't see the difference between reality and imagination.'

He could feel her, like it were his own emotions.

'The professor got me through, he told me a lot of stories about you.' She explained.

'Hopefully only good things' He mumbled.

'When he came the first time, I thought that he was one of the lords that wanted to take me.' She continued. 'I owe him my life I think, without him I'd be mad by now.'

He looked shocked.
'What do you mean by take you?' He raised his voice. His accent thundered through the woods.

When she tried to look away, he gently moved her face back. His face was a mixture of anger, shock and sympathy.

He looked into her eyes like he was searching for something. Then he suddenly halted.

'How many times?' He breathed in her ear.

It was silent for a few moments. She just looked at him. Tears were sliding down her cheeks.

Her voice trembled nervously. She couldn't help but look away.

'Twenty-three'

Too many emotions were flickering on Caspians face, but above all he felt angry.

He raised one arm and slowly pulled her waist close to him like she was something holy. She rested her head on his shoulder.

'You will never go back there again.' He said. 'I promise.'

She had not felt that peaceful in a very long time. She believed him, she truly did.

Even though he hadn't known her for long, he felt it was right to help her. He swore to himself that he would keep that promise. After all she was a young girl who had endured more than she deserved.

He was right the first time he had seen her violet eyes. She was strong. They would get through this.
