Lost and Found {Onesie x Raptor} Pt.1

Raptor~

April 2010, 2nd grade

7:30am, I really don't want to get out of bed to go to school today. I hate it so much; I hate the people, the teachers, but mostly Moniker.... he's so mean to me idk why, and his friends follow him since he's the most popular guy at school..... why can't I have a normal life like everyone else at school?

"Raptor! It's 7:30! You should already be changing for school!"
"Yeah I know"

Here goes another day of torture...

Later that day...

It needs a little more color..... There! Perfect! This is one of my favorite drawings yet. It is a drawing of Tilted, where I live. It took me a while to finish it, but worth it, it looks sick!

Jordan, a boy in my class who is nice but unfortunately Moniker's friend walked past me

"Hey Jordan! How do you think this drawing looks?"
"Wow. That's-"

Moniker walked over and slightly hit Jordan in the arm as a sign and whispered to him "are you on my side or his?" "Oh right sorry"
Jordan went back to his table while Moniker stayed there standing in front of me

"I think it looks just like you! So.......so......ugly!"
Of course Moniker had to say that, I didn't mind he didn't like my drawing, but what he said after that, hit me so hard

Am I really ugly?

I went back to where I was sitting. I started crying slightly, trying to hold my tears back while Moniker and his friends laughed at me.

"Guys there's something important that you need to know!"
I recognized Ms. Baker's voice
"I didn't want to tell you until the last minute. So are you guys ready? Here we go"
Everyone went silent and the room was so quiet, you could literally hear a pin drop. We were all waiting for Ms. Baker to tell us the big news
"A new student is joining us today!"
Everyone gasped. The room was filled with lots of voices again. You could hear people saying "is it a girl or a boy?" "What's his or her name?"
Then Ms. Baker stopped us from talking as we heard her say
"and she's right outside the classroom!"
Everyone looked at the door and windows waiting for her to come in.

After a few seconds, the girl came in the room, the first thing she saw was me, then I had this feeling I've never had before. I wiped my tears away right after we made eye contact.

"Everyone! This is Onesie! She'll be joining our school!"
"Hi"
Her voice was so soft and a little shy. She has light skin, light brown hair, and beautiful blue eyes

She is so beautiful

After a few seconds I realized I was lost in her eyes. I just couldn't help it, she's so pretty.....

We quickly introduced ourselves by saying our name. Ms. Baker showed her around the classroom and I heard her say
"you can sit wherever you want, everyone here will be happy to be with you"
"Thank you Ms. Baker!"

Then the most unexpected thing happened

She came up to me and said
"Mind if I sit here?"
I froze for a split second.
"Oh yeah sure!"

"My name is Onesie nice to meet you"
She held her hand out for me to shake it.
"Hi I'm Raptor. Nice to meet you too"
I said this while I was shaking her hand, I didn't want to let go but I had to otherwise this would've turned into a very awkward situation.

"So...... where did you live before coming here?"
"Happy Hamlet. Have you always lived in Tilted?"
"Yeah, in fact I just made a drawing of it! Do you like it?"
"Oh wow that's really good!"
"Thank you!"

Then I heard Moniker and his friends whispering
"Look! Raptor is with the new girl!" Said Gabriel
"Yeah I see"
"you are the ladies man tho go get her! Raptor can't steal her from you!"
"Might as well do it she's pretty cute"
"go! Now!"
Moniker stood up and walked towards the table that Onesie and I were sitting at

"Hey I'm Moniker"
"Hey...."
"And you are???"
"Onesie"
"Right. Would you like to sit at our table where the cools kids are?"

I felt broken. I knew she was gonna leave and sit with the gang, they are the popular kids why wouldn't she go with them?

"No thank you, I'm already at the cool table"

Wow. I did not expect that

"Fine then do whatever you want to"
Moniker went back to his table quite angry and his friends could not believe what just happened

"You didn't have to do it, you can go with them if you want to"
"I know I can, but why would I?"
My eyes lit up and I had this weird feeling going on, I've never had it before.....

Onesie~

I haven't even been at this school for an hour and I already know who to hang out with and who to stay away from, I'm glad I found a friend...... is he my friend though? I don't want to asume

"So...... friends?"
I held my hand out hoping for him to shake it
"Friends."
He shook my hand. I didn't want to let go, and I don't think he did either because none of us actually let go. Both of our eyes traveled to each other's. I could already feel my face turning red, and I could tell Raptor was sweating

After a few more seconds that felt like hours, we both let go and turned away to make it less awkward than it already was, but it was still awkward as hell

At lunch time...

"Mind if I sit with you, again?"
"Sure come on!"

We sat together and talked. He told me about Moniker and his friends, they seem like terrible people.
I told him about my friends back in Happy, I miss them but I know Raptor and I will be really good friends so it didn't really affect me, plus everyone at my school kinda sucked. Yeah I was popular and stuff but everyone there would be so mean and do whatever it took to be popular, even if it meant hurting another person; they are kind of like Moniker's friend group. But Raptor, he's different. Which makes him perfect

After school...

Raptor and I were walking together out of school, "So how was your first day?"
"It was quite hard to adapt to a new school but you made it so much better"
"Really?! I'm glad I helped"
"You really helped"

And then there was that awkward moment again, we stared at each other and said nothing. Our faces were red, body shaking. Why was this happening? Then his voice cut my thoughts off

"So..... are you free tomorrow after school?"
"Uh, yeah! It's Friday so yeah! I'm free. We can hang out! I mean if you want to if that's what you were gonna ask, it's your choice but I'd really like to hang out after school but like it's your choice I don't want to force you-"
"Yes, I want to hang out that's why I was asking"
"Ok. Umm see you Friday then?"
"See you Friday"
