"I swear, if that person bangs on that wall one more time I will loose it." I say as I pour myself a cup of piping hot tea, looking down at my cat.
Chairman Meow doesn't even move his head from it's resting spot. Oh the life of a cat must be glorious. I sigh as I sit down on my armchair with my tea, only to be distrubed from my comfort by the sound of another bang coming from the room nextdoor.
"That's it." I declare as I set down my cup of tea, spilling a drop or two on the carpet. "I'm going over there."
I stand up and slip on my fluffy slippers before walking out of the door, not without fixing my turban of course. I walk to the door of the room next to me and knock loudly on the door. Why did I ever think it would be a good idea to get an apartment so close to other people? When no one answers I knock louder and find that the door swings open.
"Hello?" I call. "I am trying to relax but your banging about is disrupting me, what is going on in here?"
At that moment I see someone stick his head around one of the doors.
"Oh, hello. I'm sorry, I didn't realise anyone was there. May I help you?"
"Yes, you can help by cutting out those loud noises that-"
At that moment he steps out from behind the door and I get a closer look at him. I suddenly find myself forgeting my train of thought as I am distracted by what I see in front of me: a man with scraggly bronze coloured hair and tan skin covering his strongly defined muscles that glisten with a thin coating of sweat.
"Oh." I say, feeling foolish for getting so distracted. "I was just wondering what all of those loud noises were."
"Oh, that would be me rearranging my furniture. The moving people put everything in the wrong rooms. I'm sorry if I was disrupting you."
"Oh, no that's fine, it was nice to meet you but I have a cup of tea waiting for me..." I start as I step back towards the door.
"No no, stay, please. I would love to meet my new neighbours."
"Well, alright, I suppose..."
"Excellent. Take a seat and I'll see what food I have. I'm Finnick by the way.." He says as he takes a few steps forward and shakes my hand with a strong grip.
"Magnus." I reply as I watch him walk into the kitchen.
I look around for a seat, but all of furniture is either turned on it's side or stuck in a doorway. I end up sitting on a box as I wait for him to return. I look down at my feet and shake my head. What are you doing Magnus? Magnus Bane does not get nervous around guys. I loosen my shoulders and shift my turban just before Finnick returns to the room.
"I'm sorry it's not much, but it's all I could find." He says as he places a plate of store bought cookies on the smaller box between us. "Not a great way to impress the high warlock of Brooklyn ey?"
At his last words I feel my heart tighten. How does a human like him know?
He notices the look on my face and chuckles, his eyes sparkling as he does.
"Relax." He says as he holds out his hand and shows me his family ring.
"Odair." I say, my chest relaxing. "I haven't bumped into one of those for many years now."
The Odair family were famous warlocks not long ago, but they seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth.
"Yeah, for a while our family kept our blood a secret, and it wasn't until I was fourteen and ran into a Shadowhunter that recognised the ring did I find out. I've never really taken on the job of a though, although I have heard a lot about you."
