Must Be Aliens

"Who's doing this Doctor?"

"I don't know Clara, but we're about to find out." The Doctor whipped out his sonic screwdriver and scanned the street.

"What's that? What's he doing?" The woman asked Danny. While he stuttered, Clara answered her.

"He's scanning for alien life forms. They could have taken your son."

"Are you serious? My son is missing and your making it into some kind of game?" The woman backed up in disgust.

"No! No Ms.-"

"Jane. My name is Jane."

"Jane, this is not a joke. In fact it is very serious. Let us help you."

Quietly she squeaked out an okay.

"I've got something! In fact I've got a lot of somethings!" The Doctor said.

"It's just blinks of it, like the flash of a camera, and it's scattered." Then he saw something out the corner of his eye. "She's gone."

"Who?"

"The little girl, Clara. She was right there," the Doctor pointed at a single spot on the sidewalk across from them,"and then she wasn't."

"Did you see anything unusual about her?"

"As a matter of fact I did." The Doctor grabbed Jane's shoulder suddenly and Jane flinched away."What was your son doing before he disappeared?"

"Colin was eating candy," she said after a few seconds of thought.

"The girl I saw, she was also eating candy."

"What kind of candy was it?" Clara directed her question to Jane.

"I-I don't know. It was um..colorful." The Doctor's eyes widened.

"Like this?" He pulled a single piece of wrapped candy out of his bag and showed it to her.

"Yes, that was it! I remember him eating one after another and I told him to slow down. He didn't listen."

The Doctor took a closer look at it it was wrapped in a foil with intricate swirls. The colors of each swirl was the color of a rainbow, shimmering and eye catching. Unwrapped, it looked like a drop of pure gold.

"The colors must be what attracts kids to eat it." He scans the candy with his sonic. " And the slight hypnosis laced into the wrapper and candy making it appealing."

"Doctor, I know who gave us those. It was the first house we went to-"

"Yes Clara, you are absolutely correct."

"Wait, you two are saying that the old couple at that house kidnapped children with candy?" Danny cut in.

"Yes. Where were you the last few minutes when we figured this out?"

"Right here, it's just listening to you two, you sometimes can't believe what you are hearing."

"Well believe it. We have to go back to that house."

But when they got there, the couple was gone.
