The Doctor soniced the front door of the couple's house and unlocked it. The door opened slowly with a creak. He turned back to Clara, Danny, and Jane. " Clara, come with me. Danny, you stay here with Jane."
"No, wherever Clara goes I go. I need to make sure you don't get her killed."
"Oh please, what makes you think you'd be the one to save her? In fact, Clara gets herself out of trouble better than I do,so you are virtually not needed."
"Doctor!" she exclaimed.
"Shhh, we need to go now Clara," the Doctor hissed.
" And what about me? You can't expect me to stand out here when my son could be in there."
"Yes I do so shut up." Clara gave the Doctor a strong disapproving glare which he ignored. He pushed the door wider and stepped inside.
"Clara," Danny whispered," holler if you need me." She blushed, taking his words into a different context.
"Will do," she responded before mouthing a sorry to Jane, and following the Doctor. It was completely dark in the hallway and smelled of mothballs. The Doctor pulled out his sonic screwdriver, but the green tip wouldn't light.
"Hmm, something is draining energy. Clara try that light switch." Clara walked towards the far wall and fumbled for the light switch. When she flicked it nothing happened.
"You're right." Suddenly, a low groan of floor boards sounded above them. They both froze for a heartbeat. Clara saw the outline of the Doctor's finger go to his lip then he turned around and started ascending a staircase. Clara crept up the stairs behind him. When they got to the top the first thing they saw was a white light leaking through the door directly in front of them. Slowly the Doctor turned the door knob and the door opened revealing a large glowing crack that had spread well over the far wall.
