The alarm went off and Yoongi woke up with a grunt. It was only 5:30, why was he up so early? Then he remembered that today was different. Namjoon was supposed to go to university by bus. He woke up and looked at himself in the mirror. He had scars on his chest and a few on his abdomen. He sighed and went to shower. The water hit his strained muscles and they started to relax. He suddenly remembered Jimin. He didn't know where the thread of thoughts ended on Jimin. Would Jimin accept him with his past? Will he understand why he was rude to most of the people? He doesn't even remember how he started liking Jimin. Sighing, he turned the shower off and got dressed. He went to Namjoon's room to wake him up but he was nowhere to be found. A small strike of fear consumed him. He went straight to the kitchen and found Namjoon eating breakfast.
He was relieved and joined the younger. "I thought you would be sleeping."
Namjoon looked up from the food, "Actually I slept without eating last night. So I was hungry and woke up. Also, I was thinking since I have woken up early, why don't we walk to university! It's a twenty minutes walk. Please?"
Yoongi thought for some minutes and nodded. Namjoon smiled, showing off his dimples. They finished their food and Namjoon took his bag and started walking. He wore a black t-shirt and acid wash denim. He had an extra pair of shirt and tie in his bag so that he could change before heading to the office. Yoongi wore a white shirt and black trousers with a bag which had a gun in it.
They were walking on an almost empty street. There were few people jogging and cycling and few dogs stretching and going back to sleep. It was great weather. Not too cold as the winter was around the corner but did not set in yet. Namjoon started at the empty street and smiled to himself.
Yoongi raised his eyebrows, "What are you looking at?"
Namjoon didn't steer his gaze, "The streets...."
Yoongi looked in the direction Namjoon was staring. "why? What's so special?"
Namjoon smiled, "They are so quiet."
Yoongi was still staring ahead, "They won't be once the people start coming here."
Namjoon hummed, "I sometimes wonder how the world would be if people never socialized. There would be no communication, no prejudice, no hatred, no enmity. People will only talk about work. Absolute peace."
Yoongi knew he was wrong and that as an elder brother it was his duty to correct the younger. "You are right. But imagine not being able to talk about your feelings. You will be frustrated and stressed. Who will you tell your stress? Where will you go to pent up your emotional baggage?"
Namjoon nodded agreeing to it, "You are right. But then people always think they know everything about you when they even don't know who they are! They tend to make me sick when they think they know that I'm a brat. When in reality I don't think I am."
Yoongi smiled, "People who don't know who they are always run away from the fact. And to escape the reality they need something to think about, something to talk about. So they talk about you, rather gossip about you."
Namjoon was now confused, "But then why does it bother us?"
Yoongi knew he was coming to a very deep topic. So he slowly started, "Because you think they are right. As you are still searching for yourself you tend to get deflected by what people think about you. And the worst part is that you try to fit in people's assumptions about you. That's when you lose yourself."
Namjoon was now somewhat convinced "Have you ever come across these kinds of prejudice?"
Yoongi smiled, "Yup! People think I'm grumpy and rude. So I don't waste my time correcting them. Rather I just give them what they want."
Namjoon laughed, "Then how do you find yourself?"
Yoongi smiled wider, "I find myself when I'm with you guys. You guys know who I am and so I don't have to act like someone else. I can be myself around."
Namjoon smiled but he still looked conflicted, "Then should I not let people know that I'm not a brat?"
Yoongi shook his head, "You should try to prove that you are not a brat only in front of those, whom you think will get convinced and change their perception about you and your image. Don't waste your energy on useless people."
Namjoon thought about something, "Do you think, Seokjin will get convinced that I'm not a brat?"
Yoongi laughed, "First of all he is hyung to you, and secondly, it's good to try. You have nothing to lose. Why, do you like him?" Yoongi smirked on seeing the blush coming on the younger's cheek.
"No, but maybe, if he gets convinced that I'm not a brat he'll give me my normal life back. And we can be good friends. I don't know. Maybe."
Yoongi chuckled, "Yes, you like him."
Namjoon rolled his eyes, "Oh come on. I don't tease you about the cafe guy, you rented about when you were drunk. So shush!"
Yoongi blushed and flushed a gummy smile, "Yes, I like him. His name is Jimin. And I'm happy that I will see him the entire day from now onwards."
Namjoon giggled on seeing his love-struck hyung going all red only by the thought of being with Jimin. "I can help you get him on a date with you. Now that I work with him I'll tell him how lovable and cherished you are."
Yoongi glared at Namjoon, "Don't you dare! I'll kill you if you even hint that I like him."
Namjoon stuck his tongue out to his hyung, "Make me stop!" And started running.
Yoongi ran after him but he was slow due to the cold hitting his face. He grunted, "Aish, this long-legged giant!"
