Mannequins Don't Smile

Bucky was like a mannequin. Soft pale white skin and a sturdy yet soft gaze. He had soft hair as if it was carefully threaded every day. His small dainty figure could be pushed over with a single blow. But even with all of this, he wears no expression.

"Apparently Barnes is making a debut in show business after graduating," Tony told the group

"Is he still gonna model like he is now?" Natasha asked

"I don't know, but he's so lucky that he doesn't have to worry about college exams. He already has gotten a referral for college," Clint responded

"Seriously? I guess there always is that one person who's good at everything," Wanda shrugs

"Well that's just what I heard from-" Tony starts

"Didn't you hear it from Steve?" Sam cuts off

"It probably wasn't from me," Steve says, "I've never really talked to him."

"Anyways," Sam starts, "I heard instead of a model he wants to be an idol or something like that."

"OF COURSE NOT!" Tony laughs, "He doesn't really have the personality to be an idol does he?"

"Yeah. He is just to hard to approach and never smiles." Clint adds

I walk off from the group with thoughts in my head.

"I know his name and nickname and face and voice, but that's it."

Next thing I know, I'm in the Library. As I look up, I see a book about to fall off the shelf and hit a boy. I run as fast as I can and push him out of the way. I watch the book fall where the boy was standing seconds before. I then look back and see I saved Bucky. Then I realize I'm still holding him.

"S-Sorry," I stutter, "The book! The book was gonna hit you, so... uh"

"Yeah. I know. Are you hurt?" Bucky asks softly

"No. But are you okay?" I ask

"I'm fine thanks to you," Bucky explains

"Okay! That is good because you model for work right? You need to be extra careful about you're body," I spit out. Realizing I'm probably being inconsiderate I try to make up for it. "Oh sorry... You probably don't want to talk about this at school, do you? I mean everyone is always talking about it. Sorry?" I question rubbing the nape of my neck

Bucky chuckles.

"Yeah. You're right. This is just the first time someone's said that to my face," He says giving a sincere smile

My eyes light up.

"I... Ah- Uhm... Wow... Your smile is just really pretty." I spit out

"Ah, thank you." He says

When I understand what I said, I delve into my thoughts.

"What am I saying! I'm so stupid. How could I possibly say that? Escpessialy to another GUY!! UHG!"

"Actually instead of modeling," Bucky starts walking to the window making me look at him, "I mean right now, I'm working as a model but if I said I wanted to sing for people... would you laugh at me?"

The wind blew against his skin softly and made his hair sway.

Those were the only words I'd ever said to him and time passed and now it's almost graduation season.

He was slowly noot becoming present in school and when he did come to school, like normal he was alone. And since it was almost graduation more and more rumors were going around.
