Stucky

*I hated endgame and in my mind the ending for Steve doesn't exist so I made something up🤷🏼‍♀️Stucky 4ever😂😂*

Once Steve had volunteered to be the one to bring all the Infinity stones back Bucky was positive Steve wasn't coming back. With the stones Steve could make a life he wanted and a life he deserved. That didn't mean it killed Bucky to see Steve go. He knew he had Sam and even though they had a rocky start Bucky grew to love Sam as a brother so that had calmed Bucky's just a bit.
"Ready to go." Bruce said in his weird half human half hulk form giving the thumbs up. Bucky smiled ever so slightly at the man before him as he told Sam it was him who had to take the stones back alone. Maybe Sam knew in his mind that he wasn't coming back too.
"Don't do anything stupid 'til I get back," Steve told Bucky softly smiling. Bucky's heart clenched at the words his mind going back to when he was drafted into the war and had to leave his best friend and the man he loved.
"How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you." Bucky tried to keep his voice from quivering but he was on the verge of breaking down. He loved Steve and was always to scared to say it and now he's going back to Peggy.
"I'm gonna miss you Buck." Steve brought him in for a hug. He couldn't say anything back or he would've started crying very unmanly tears and begged Steve not to go so he nodded and stood back next to Sam. Steve stood on the pad and Bruce began to count back from 3. Sam gripped Bucky's hand and they both silently stared at the pad as it lit up and zapped Steve away.
"How long is this gonna take?" Sam broke the silence.
"As long as he needs but only about 5 more seconds," Bruce pressed a button and flipped a lever. "Ok here 5 4 3 2 1."
Nothing happened. They all started panicking.
"What's going on? Where is he?" Sam stepped to Bruce and looked at the old that was still empty.
"I-I don't know he blew right past his timestamp."
"Well get him back." Sam was angry and Bucky just sighed. He turned his head to the water and spotted a familiar body sitting on the bench. Tears sprung to his eyes. He came back.
"Sam." Bucky whispered and Sam whipped his head to see what Bucky was looking at. "Go ahead."
Sam walked to Steve and Bucky followed Silently behind him.
"Cap?" Steve looked at Sam and grinned.
"Hi Sam." Steve faced back the water and sighed. "I think I'm done here Sam. I've done the best I could with my time as Cap. It's time for me to move on to something else." His eyes met Bucky's for a second before falling to Sams.
"What are you saying?"
"There's no one I trust more than you with my shield Sam. You've stuck by me through everything and I'd like you to take my place. If that is what you want."
Sam picked the shield and held it. Bucky beamed with Pride. It looked right with Sam just as it did with Steve.
"How does it feel?"
"Like it's someone else's."
"You'll feel it soon buddy." Bucky patted his back and was just ear to ear grinning. They all laughed and began talking for a bit.  After awhile Sam noticed Steve and Bucky were staring at each other more and more and knew they needed some privacy. So he made up an excuse to go help Bruce and walked away with his new shield. Also silently praying that Steve and Bucky would just kiss and get together already because he was done with all the eye sex.
"I got my dance." Steve said after a minute of silence. "It was so nice seeing her like that again Buck."
Bucky's heart tightened again even though Steve came home to him.
"I thought you were gonna stay." He spoke quietly. Steve pulled Bucky's hand into his own.
"I did too. When I saw Peggy back with Tony I felt this ache in my chest. Like I was missing something. I thought it was her that I was missing," he blew air out of his mouth and stopped for a second," it wasn't Peggy. It was you Buck. I came back and after Bruce snapped all I could think of was getting my hands on you. All these years and I never got to tell you how much I loved you and how much I needed you. I still owed Peggy that dance though. She was a great friend and I truly do love her but not in the way I feel about you."

Steve wouldn't turn his eyes to Bucky. It was the first time his feelings were all out on the table and Steve was feeling like he'd be rejected. He had always said that in his mind to maybe make it okay that he was in love with his best friend. He didn't need Bucky to feel the same, he just needed him in his life.
"I've been waiting like 100 years for you to finally say something you jerk." Bucky pulled his hand from Steve's and grabbed his face and kissed him. James Buchanan Barnes was kissing Steven Grant Rogers and it was like the whole world had stopped. Nothing else mattered.
