It was raining hard by now, i shivered as my coach lectured us about playing our hardest and inspiring our teammates to do the same. I always blocked out this part of practice, he had repeated this speech since the day I tried out for the team 4 years ago.
"Aria, did you hear what I just said." My coach questions.
"Of course. You where talking about inspiration and hard work." I say, hoping that was the right answer.
"Aria you have to start listening. Now go run eight laps around the field." He answers harshly.
My coach loved punishing us with fitness, but personally I loved running. I loved the feeling of the rain drops pounding down on you, it made my body feel relaxed. Even though I was running about 2 miles. The rain was cold and hard, after only the 4th lap my white practice jersey was drenched. I finally find a good pace and finish the rest of the laps in a few minutes.
"Finished coach." I say proudly.
He nods satisfied and looks back at the rest of the team and the soggy soccer field.
"We have a big game this weekend girls." He yells. "I need you guys to work your butts off out their, play till it hurts."
We start our our cool off that we do at the end of practice. (Hailey and I don't know why they call it that, it just gets us even hotter) We sprint around the field twice and then jog around it 4 more times. I finish first, which I almost always do. Hailey is only 5 seconds behind me.
"Okay girls. Practice is over." Our coach yells over the boom of thunder.
