After 2 long hours of more or less silence, we finally arrived at the huge soccer field. Hailey and i roll down our windows and cold air rushes in. I shiver and zip up my jacket.
"This is pretty good soccer weather." Hailey grabs some sweatpants out of her bag.
"Yeah, I am so ready for this game. We are going to win i can feel it." I pull open the car door and grab my backpack and soccer ball.
"Thanks for driving me, Lisa." I yell as she pulls out of the parking lot.
She would be back before the game starts, she always got coffee before early morning games. I feel like hailey needs it more then lisa does. Hailey looks half awake, so i grab my water bottle and spray it at her.
"What was that for!!!!!" Hailey complains.
"Sorry, It just looked like you needed it." Haileys face is pale and as i watch her i realize that she is really nervous.
"You are going to play great, Hail." I say.
Hailey and i walk to where the rest of our team is warming up. We came right on time but like always Alex is late. We start our jogging lines and do some light stretching. The other team doesn't come until 7:30. We were going to be a lot looser then they would. We always came to games extra early because we didn't want any one to be tight and pull a muscle. The other team is huge, almost all of them a good foot taller then me and i am one of the tallest on our team. We get into a huddle, we need a strategy.
"We can't let them intimidate us. We have to play harder then them, we have to want it more." I try to encourage my team.
Alex arrives and he looks frazzled.
"Sorry girls, i got a little lost on the way here." This was one of the rare times that he ever apologized to us.
"Coach, we are all warmed up. But we need to know the starting line up." I answer.
"Okay, we are going to have Annie in goal. Aria and Mari as outside backs (defenders), and Lizzy and Tallia as the other 2 defenders. Anna, you will be holding mid-fielder and sara you will be attacking mid. Lina and Lindsey you will will be outside mid fielders. And Hailey you will be our striker." Alex finally says.
