I was panting by the time I reached the exit, and my tounge was visably hanging out of my dry mouth (god, I needed water). I yanked at the door, but, of course, nothing is ever so easy; the door was locked.

"Aaarrrghh!" I yelled, hitting the door as hard as I could.

"Woah, there," Someone shouted from behind me. "You're gonna give us away if you're not careful, you idiot!" It was a girl's voice. I spun around to see a girl standing behind me. Now what? She stepped forward to offer me a hand.

"Hey there," she said, as I took it reluctantly. "The name's Clare, Clare Tenner. What about ya?"

I froze as I felt myself remember something...

I was two years old, and I was sitting on the couch in the dining room. I wished my mom was there, but she had gone to answer the door, so I got up and used my recently learned walking skills to wander over. I peered into the hall and saw mom at the door with another little kid, about the same age as me. Behind them, standing outside, were the legs of a tall man. I couldn't see his face.

"This one shall be called Clare Tenner, Francine" The man said to my mom.

"Rick, be careful about this! We don't have space for her and...

"Hello?" I woke up to a hand in front of my face. "Anybody home?" I sat up groaning.

I remembered the tall man outside. Well, he must be Martin. But what was my mom doing? Did she... work with him? And what did Clare have to do with all this?"What happened?" I asked Clare grogily.

"Well, ya went all goggle eyed, then ya fell in a heap. What was that all about?" She replied.

Ignoring her question, I asked: "What's the way out of this place?" Then she actually laughed at me.

"Way out? If there was a way, don't ya think I would have left by now?"

"Oh." This was going to be much harder than I first thought.
