Chapter Six
Awake
Jungkook POV

I found myself later that day settled in front of a flat black box mounted upon the wall.

I was seated in between “Eomma” and “Appa”.

I still didn’t know their real names.

And it bothered me.

I was jolted back into reality by the black box suddenly flashing with colors.

I knit my eyebrows in confusion.

“Wh-what’s that?” I asked quietly.

Appa chuckled,” That’s a TV Bun, you’re watching cartoons,”

“Car...toons?” I asked softer this time.

“Yes darling,” Eomma smiled,” This is the Backyardigans!!!”

“WE’RE YOUR BACKYARD FRIENDS THE BACKYARDIGANS~” the “TV” sang loudly.

My attention drifted to the show, I myself pouting now the colorful creatures were replaced with a hamster, turtle, and a chick,” Over?”

“Oh!!! The Wonder Pets are on now!!! Aren’t you excited!?!?”

I huffed, done with the childish games.

Fuck this!!! I’m not watching this stupid… what was it called again?

Oh!!!

This stupid cartoon!!!

Why was it stupid again?

The song about the phone was entertaining…

Why did I hate it again?

I can’t remember.

“There’s an animal in trouble~ there’s an animal in trouble~ we’re not too big~ and we’re not too tough~ but when we work together we got the right stuff~ Goooooo Wonder Pets!!! Yaaaaaay!!!”

I giggled at theTV, completely engrossed within the show before me.

Suddenly the TV turned black, a whine escaping my throat.

“Aw, Bun, it’s time for dinner,”

I pouted, but my stomach growled, reminding me that I needed food regardless of my wants to watch the pig people talk about the music they were into.

“Okay,” I said sadly.

Eomma picked me up, settling me down in an adult sized highchair.

Where do you even get adult sized baby things!?!?

It doesn’t make sense!!!

A bowl of spaghetti and meat sauce was placed in front of me.

I looked up at Appa with large eyes,” Mine?”

He smiled down at me sadly,” Yes Bun, it’s yours, go on, eat for me buddy,”

I gave him a funny look,” But… I ate this morning… I’m not supposed to eat… right?”

Appa ran his fingers through my hair,” Oh Bun… I wish you never had to ask that question,”

I leaned into the touch. It felt nice, comforting.

“Come on Bun, eat for Appa,”

I nodded slowly, taking a handful of the messy noodles, shoving some in my mouth.
