Part 10

"Aren't you over reacting just a little bit?" Lucy asked.

"A little? Lucy, they abandoned me! I have the right to be pissed."

"Sure... But i didn't abandon you..." Lucy pleaded. Her eyes began to tear up. "I came looking for you, despite my parents..."

"For what?" I asked, "To rub it in my face? To show me all of the things I have lost that you got?"

"You think that I'm such a slime ball?" She gasped.

I stared at Lucy's face. She had such kind innocent eyes, and a little round nose, and that mouth that never knew when to shut up. I didn't want to hurt her.

"No, I don't think you are a 'slime ball'..." I sighed. "I'm just a little angry. I mean how can they just get away with this?"

"If only you understood why..." said Lucy between coughs.

"What?" I asked suddenly confused.

"Nothing... I was just coughing..." Lucy responded guiltily.

"No, what were you gonna say?!" I asked wondering what more she could possibly be hiding from me.

"Umm..." She hesitated for a minute. "Well... the reason she didn't recognize you is-"

"Lucy honey!" Interrupted her mom... my mom.

"Yes mommy?" She called back.

"It's time to come down and eat dinner!" Dear sweet "mommy" responded.

"Okay!" Lucy cried, "We'll be right there in a second!"

I sighed impatiently.

"You know what..." Lucy turned around to me, "I don't think you should ever know..."

"Know what?!?!" I cried.

"Oh my god, if you ever did know you would be even more of a psycho!" she ran her fingers through her hair,"I don't know if I can take that!"

I pouted, "Well, you never give me good news! Why does everything about my life have to suck?!"

"Oh! Don't be such a drama queen! You don't even know how good you have it," lucy frowned.

"Maybe to you it seems that way, but you dont have to live in my shoes, and feel the pain I wake up to every day. How would you? You got to grow up in all of this," I pointed around the room, "With your REAL parents. You can't look back at your life and feel like your past was a lie... A fake!"

"Annie..." Lucy sighed.

"Whatever," I said holding back tears,"Let's go have our 'first family meal'"

Lucy nodded slowly and motioned me to follow her. I stepped behind her painfully, my head feeling too heavy for my neck. Things just didn't seem the same as they used to.

"Choose a seat," Lucy ordered.

"Oh, Uhhh..."I answered bewildered by how we got to the dining room so fast, "Where ever."

Lucy sighed as she pulled out a chair for me, "At least pretend to have some manner."

I looked away and took a seat.

"I'll get us a drink Lucy said. As she left, a man entered the dining room.

"Hello?" he said questioningly.

"Good evening sir," I managed to mumble out.

He sat down and looked into my eyes. I stared back, hoping at least he would recognize his first daughter.
