I lunge at Cameron first, but Peter steps in front of him before I can do any damage. I don't want to hurt any of them, not really. But when I am like this. . . I lose all control. I don't recognize anyone, they are only my prey. I don't have feelings. I don't have any recognition for what was right and what was wrong. I do what my instincts told me. I do what my wolf wants.
I growl loudly, exposing my fangs as a threat.
"Derek, stop. I know this is hard for you. Just stop. Try and remember." The Alpha speaks. I no longer know her as my mother, only as the Alpha.
"I don't need your help." I growl out.
The pack looks at each other and nods. I cock my head the side. Before I can guess what they are doing, Cameron, Alex, and Steven all grab me once again. They drag me into an ally, while I am punching and kicking the entire time, trying to get loose.
We come to a door and they quickly open it and shove me inside. I land on my ass, but quickly get up. Before I can get out of the door, it is shut in my face and locked.
"We're sorry Derek. This is the only way to keep you safe."
I roar out, banging and clawing at the door.
I hear Laura whimper softly, she never likes seeing me in any sort of pain or distress.
I keep banging and clawing at the door for a long time, but nothing changes.
I stop trying to break down the door and try a different approach. I sit on the ground and take in my surroundings. There isn't much to take in. I can't see anything except for darkness. I assume the door is metal though, based on how it was cool to the touch and how it is very hard to knock down.
I hear the pack whispering, wondering why I stopped trying to escape. It isn't enough though, they are not going to let me out just yet.
I start softly whimpering and I know they hear it.
"Mom! We can't keep him cooped up in there! You know how he is!"
"It's the only way to keep safe." She replies. This infuriates me. I completely forget about the plan of using sympathy to get out and stand up quickly.
"Keep safe? Tell me the truth, do you lock me in here to keep me safe from you and the rest of the world, or to keep you safe from me? Are you afraid that I am a beast who is going to kill everything in my path? News flash! I feel like that everyday, with or without the fangs!"
I hear the sighs and gasps throughout the pack.
"Derek, please. Just for a few more minutes, and the full moon will be over. Just try and get it under control."
"Get it under control? I'm never going to get it under control! The fangs and claws may go away, but I'm still fighting the same battle." I say. Why don't they understand that I can't be helped?
"We can help you. Just-"
"No! You can't! You say that, but nothing works! Just shut the hell up!" I roar. "All of you!"
"Derek, nobody is talking but me." Talia says concerned.
I roar again. "Shut up! Shut up! Turn that thing off!"
"Derek what are you hearing?"
The noise gets unbearable, it is so loud and so obnoxious. My head is throbbing terribly and I am sweating like I have just ran a marathon.
"Derek! Tell me what is going on in there!"
I feel lightheaded and I feel myself slowly fall. I land hard on the flood, hurting my shoulder and head.
"Derek!" I hear Steven shout. I am on the ground and can't see anything, but I can still hear my family. I hear the rustling of keys and then my mother's voice.
"Wait! It could be a trap. Derek is a very clever boy, what if he is perfectly okay?"
"Then we will fight him off! Just open the door!" Alex yells.
I hear the keys again and then the door swings open with a creak. They all run towards me, saying my name repeatedly.
"Derek? Derek! What's wrong? Derek!"
I can't speak, I don't feel like I have the energy. I don't even feel like I have the energy to lift my hand.
"Do you smell that?" Talia asks.
"Wolfsbane." The pack says in unison.
"What the hell? This is our emergency spot, we would never put wolfsbane in here!" Alex says.
"Then who did? This is strong, definitely meant to hurt or kill wolves. We need to get him out of here to Deaton's now!" Talia yells, as the pack begins to cough due to the effects of the wolfsbane.
I feel several pairs of hands wrap around me and I think that is about the time that I black out.
