Black bird, my little black bird, why have you left?

Was it because I didn't feed you on time?

Did you get tired of holding your breath in fear my love would go left?

Did you tire of being by my side?

I don't deserve your love, because you didn't deserve the cold

I am the bitter winter I have no heart within me for you to withhold

Why are your eyes so cold?

Do you dare not soften them for fear I will get ahold
of your heart,
and tear you apart again, and again,
as though this fate were not foretold?

Without you my summers are cold

You left me without a single warning

I should've known,
because I left you high and dry in the middle of the storm that is our love

You had no shelter, nowhere to hide, there was no affection from me shown,
when I left you in the snow

The snow hasn't stopped..

I need you here but it is my pride that is stopping me,
because you dared not stop me

Do you like the winter?

Do you like the cold?

You've flown away but where you are is still cold

Fly south to my heart what is your barricade?

I am here and I've climbed your tall tree and I ask you black bird why have you left me?

Why didn't you stay?
