Everyone wishes for a peaceful, quiet spot for themselves to hang out at. I wanted one too, but sometimes, we should leave it at wishing. Everything started on January 13th, Moving Day. I was excited. Ma told me we'd be moving to a small, quiet town called Goran Trails. My room was empty, packed away into boxes and on the moving truck. I took one last look at my house and said goodbye. Sure, I'd miss the house, but the people here? Not a chance. My school was full of idiots and jerks. I hated them, and my teachers. As I walked to the car with my small box full of personal stuff that I did not want to put in the moving truck, I saw something shiny. I opened the car door and put the box in the backseat, then turned to see what was shining when...

"Emily! Today please!" my mother called.

"Coming!" I ran to the car. I thought about that shiny thing for a bit before pulling my phone out and playing games on it. My dad was in the moving truck, he was the driver after all. I ended up falling asleep for two thirds of the trip. It was a long drive. I kept imagining my new home, room, school, friends, neighborhood. I was desperate for another chance at making friends. At my old school, I was late to all my classes on the first couple of days. Ever since, my teachers gave me the nickname "Slow Cheetah" since our school mascot was Checkers the Cheetah. Because of that stupid nickname, I was bullied a lot, but now I'd finally get a second chance. I was so happy. Now I just needed to wait for the long drive to be over.

A couple more long hours passed, but we were close. I knew this because my ma and dad always told me how far and close we are every time we stopped for gas, food, etc. I was practically jumping out of my seatbelt when Ma pointed at a sign that read, "Welcome to Goran Trails!" I was so happy!... Until I saw the actual town. It looked old, dusty, and, overall, a mess. I look out my car door window and saw a couple of elderly people sitting in rocking chairs outside, seemingly asleep. I wasn't liking the vibe I was getting here. Something about how those old men and women were sleeping made me feel off. I told Ma about my vibe, but she just brushed it off.

"Hun, I'm sure you feel uncomfortable because you're new. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll like it here." I saw My smile through the rear mirror.

"Are you sure?" I asked, wanting reassurance.

"Yes, now let me drive, okay, Em?" my mother asked. I just nodded, and hoped she was right. I stared out the window. After a couple of minutes, I drifted off to sleep.

When I awoke, we were driving through a dark, creepy forest. I look towards my mother, she was focused on the road ahead of her.

"Ma, where are we?" I asked her. I didn't get a response. "Ma! Hellooo," I spoke again, trying to get her attention. All she did was stare ahead. I was about to start talking again when she quickly turned to face me. When she did, I got a good look at my mother's unnatural facial design. Her eyes were completely black and she was crying blood, but had no expression on her face. I sat back, shocked and scared, when she whispered something. As much as her face creeped me out, I leaned in to hear what my mother was saying.

"There's... no... escape... once... you... enter..." Her words scared me. Then I opened my eyes. I was in the car, but it wasn't moving. I look out the window and saw houses. I was startled when Ma opened the car door. She was normal. So then it was just a scary dream. What a relief.

"Oh, you're awake. Excellent! Did you sleep well, Em?" my mother smiled at me. I just nodded.

"Good, 'cause you need to help your dad with your boxes." and with that, Ma closed the car door. I grabbed my personal box and left the car. Ma was carrying boxes into the new house. I assumed my dad was inside since he wasn't at the moving truck.
