KARA'S POV

11:30:07 PM

The bus eventually stopped. The doors opened and the four of us stepped out. "Excuse me, what's going on?" I ask a soldier.

"Border control." He says. "All passengers must leave the bus." "Please move along."

We entered the building in front of us. We got in line. I looked around. I looked at a sign. It was in French, but I could still understand what it was saying.

"They're doing temperature checks." I say. "We're trapped."

"What are we gonna do, Kara?" Alice asks.

"Don't worry, girls. We'll be fine." I said. "We can't get through, Kara. We both know that." Luther says. "I'll think of something..." I say. "There's got to be a way out of this..."

"We can't let them stop us... now that we're so close." Luther says. "All that matters is you, Alice, and Tamara." "I can save you, Kara."

"No... No, we'll find another way..." I said. "If there's no other way, I'll do it..." Luther said.

We looked over and saw Jerry. "Jerry?" I called out through our heads.

"You risked your life to save us, Kara." Jerry said. "If you and the girls need me, I'll be there."

I looked over and saw Rose. "Rose?" I call out. She turns her head and looks at me. She then looks back. I looked over at the restrooms. "Wait for me." I said to Luther. "I won't be long."

I start to head to the bathroom with the girls. "Where the hell do you think you're going?" A soldier asks me. "My daughters need to go to the bathroom." I said.

I walk past him and head for the bathroom. We open the door and go into the bathroom. I go over to a mirror and look at myself for a few seconds. I start to cry a small bit.

The girls walk over to me and out thor arms around my waist since they were shorter than me, in order to comfort me. The door then opened and Rose came through.

"Rose..." I said going up to Rose. "Oh my god..." Rose says as we hug. "I'm so glad you're safe!"

The girls run over and hug Rose. "We saw the Jericho raid on TV..." Rose says. The girls stop hugging her.

"I was terrified, I thought you might have been killed..." Rose said. "Thank god you're all right..."

"They're checking for androids..." I said in a sad tone. "We won't make it through..."

"You have to..." Rose said putting her hand on my shoulder. "You know what they'll do if they catch you..."

She took her hand off. "You're leaving Detroit?" I ask, still with a sad tone. "They're searching androids door to door." Rose says. "We had to leave before someone turned us in..."

"What about the others?" I asked. "They're crossing river as we speak..." Rose responded. "Adam and I are gonna meet them on the other side."

"Rose... if anything should happen..." I say.

"I'll be there, Kara." Rose said.

I hug Rose. After several seconds, we let go. She hugs the girls for a second. Rose backed up a few steps. She then turned around, opened the door, then left the bathroom. I open the door and we leave the bathroom. I then saw Adam. I walked up to them.

"I couldn't understand why my mother wanted to help you guys..." Adam says. "Made me realize she was right..." "I don't agree with what Markus is doing..." "But you're alive..." "You deserve to be free..." "I just hope that people will realize that one day..."

Adam then walked away. We went back over to Luther in line. We were almost next. Just after one more person. I look over to Jerry. We look at each other for a few seconds. We stopped looking at each other.

"Next please." We heard. We walk forward. This was the moment. Either we get into Canada or we die.

"ID." He says. I take out my ID and slide it through the square hole. "Are they all right?" He asks about the girls.

"HEY YOU!" We heard a soldier yell to our right. We turn to see Jerry getting shot by a soldier. Alice screamed and grabbed Tamara in fear. "Alice, it's okay..." Tamara said rubbing Alice's back in a comforting way.

"Hey." He says to Alice. "No need to be scared anymore." "There are no androids on this side of the border."

"Welcome to Canada." He then says. I take my ID. I walk past the man. We walk up to the doors. The doors opened and we walked out.

I got down on my knees. We were now in Canada. We were free!

"It's over, girls." I said. "We're free."

The girls both smiled before kneeling down and hugging me. I hugged back the two girls I was proud to call my daughters.
