Chapter 1:Hitchhiking

(In Malibu,20:00pm)

Cassie's POV:

Today is most likely the worst day of my life.My father became really abusive when my mom died and I just couldn't take it anymore.After everything he had done to me I decided to run away.It's a cold night tonight,here in Malibu,I was now roaming around the streets a few miles away from home,'I dont know where I'm going but I have to get as far away from here as possible'I thought to myself as I now stood on the edge of the road trying to hitch-hike.My thoughts were travelling as I stood there shivering with my thumb in the air.'What are you going to do Cassie?'was the last thought I had when someone pulled up next to me...

I walked to the car looking down.
"Hey,need a lift?" I heard the person ask and I just nodded,opening the door.I still haven't looked at the kind stranger yet."So aren't you gonna look and see who the stranger is you just got in a car with?"the person said again with a little chuckle,we were still pulled over and I decided to turn my head and look...

Oh...My...God,I think I'm either dead or about to pass out!The living legend Cher,offered me a lift,is letting me sit next to her and is talking to me,I'd better reply to her I thought and said"Oh my god,I better start looking at strangers more often"was all I could get out,I was struck by a huge wave of schock and awe and judging by her hysterical laughter I guess she noticed it.

"Yes you should,where are you going,exactly?" She asked after calming down a bit.
"First of all thanks for picking me up and second,I haven't got a clue,just as far away from here as possible." I replied slightly saddened.
"Have you been crying?"she asked me looking concerned
" Yes,yes I have"was all I could get out because I had to stop myself from bursting into tears.
Cher then gave me a concerned,saddened smile and started her engine.I didn't know where she was taking me and honestly I couldn't care less.The ride was quiet so far and I was looking out the widow.I started thinking about everything that happened today and tears started streaming down my face.I just sat there in silence looking out the window crying,minding my own business when suddenly she grabbed my hand.
"Are you okay?did I do something wrong?"she asked sounding anxious.
'I still dont know why 'Cher' would pull over and help someone like me.'I thought before replying."No,why would you think that,I still don't even know why you would help someone like me,how can you think you did something wrong?" I asked trying to smile through the tears that were still falling.

"I helped you because,one I know how it feels to stand like that and two it freezing outside, look I know I'm just a stranger to you but if you need to talk I'm here for you okay?"

"Thanks Cher,I...I-" I tried to say but then burst into tears.I guess I was too busy crying to notice my surroundings because she had just stopped in front of a hotel.After the car was completely switched of she turned around and hugged me."You're going to be okay,I'm here for you."she said stroking my hair while I sobbed my heart out,after I calmed down she said"You can stay with me if you want too tonight"
"Thanks Cher,are you sure, I dont want to bother you more then I already have." I replied slightly embarrassed.
"Nonsense you dont bother me,come on let's go in" She said hugging me again and with that we left...

We had just got to her room and she was making some hot chocolate, I really don't know why she's so nice to me...

"Here you go" She said handing me a cup.

"Thanks,for everything I mean"I replied taking a sip.

"It's a pleasure so...whats you're name?how old are you and why were you hitchhiking so late? If you dont mind me asking"

"Well...my name is Cassie,I'm 15 years old and I was running away from my abusive father,I just coudnt take it anymore."

"Oh my god,I'm so sorry,don't you have some one else in you're family you could talk to?" She asked concerned.And I started to cry again...
