Regina's POV

I was lying in my backyard, staring up at the sky, when I heard something near me. I turned my head to see an owl about a foot away from me, with a letter in it's beak. It hopped towards me, and seeing the letter was addressed to me, I took it, then patted the owl's head before it flew off.

I sat up and looked at the letter.

Turning it over, I realized what it was.

I had been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

I jumped up, spinning around before racing inside to find my mother. If you saw me standing next to her, or my father, you wouldn't think we were related.

My mother had short, wavy brown hair and brown eyes, and my father had brownish red hair and hazel eyes.

I stood apart from them with my long, straight blond hair, and blue grey eyes.

I never really gave that much thought. But in a few minutes, I would.

I finally found my mum, sitting in the living room with my dad.

I ran up to her and showed her the letter.

"It came!" I said, bouncing up and down excitedly.

She smiled and looked at dad, who simply smiled and said, "Well, open it."

I opened the letter and read through it. I was halfway through the letter when I realized something.

I looked back up at the top where my name was.

My name was Regina Rivers.

But the letter said Regina Malfoy.

I looked at it confused for a moment before looking up at my mum.

"Why does it say Malfoy? Our last name is Rivers, so why doesn't it say that?" I asked curiously.

My mum looked at me and her face paled. She looked at my dad, and I did too.

"Well, we have to tell her sometime. Might as well do it now," he said, sighing.

He got up and came and kneeled down in front of me, so our eyes were level.

"Honey, your mother and I love you as though you were our own child, but, you're not.

We found you, abandoned on the streets. We took you in and we grew to love you.

You see, your mother couldn't have children, so we were overjoyed when we found you. We never knew who your real parents were, or why you were left on the street, but we loved you back then, and we still do. The letter says Malfoy, because I suppose that's your real surname. Not Rivers," he said.
