We flooed to the manor, stepping out of the fireplace into the huge front room.
In fact, I don't think huge quite describes how big it was.
If it was that big, I couldn't imagine how big the rest of the house was.
Lucius went off one way after giving his coat to a house elf, I think he said he was going to the study?
Narcissa and Draco also took off their coats and gave them to the house elf, while I stood there looking around at the enormous room.
"Regina, are you gonna take your coat off?" I heard Draco ask from beside me.
"Hmm? Oh, yeah, sorry," I mumbled, taking my coat off.
I handed it to the house elf, "Thank you," I said.
I was about to turn back around, but the poor thing looked like she was about to faint. She started muttering a lot of things so fast I couldn't keep up with what she was saying.
I looked at Draco.
"Was it something I said?" I asked, wondering at the elf's frantic behavior.
He shook his head, "No, they do that whenever you thank them, or really, whenever you talk to them without giving them an order," he said, shrugging it off casually.
"Okay..."
Narcissa came back into the room -I didn't even notice she had left- and walked over to us.
"Draco, will you show Regina where her room is?" she asked him.
He nodded, then turned to me.
"It's this way," he said, leading me to the large staircase. He began ascending up the stairs, with me following closely behind him.
Once we reached the top of the stairs, he lead me down numerous hallways and corridors that I lost count.
We finally stopped in a hallway with two white doors in it.
He pointed to the one at the end of the hallway, "That's my room down there, this one's yours," he said, opening the door that was right in front of us, and stepping out of the way for me to enter.
I walked into the room, and was completely awestruck.
Aside from the fact that it was about the size of my entire house where I grew up, it was beautiful.
The walls were white, with emerald green carpet, and the bed was a huge four poster, with curtains hanging around the edge of it. The bed sheets, and the curtains on both the bed and the two enormous windows, were both a beautiful green a few shades lighter than the carpet.
My luggage was already there, sitting in the corner by the bed, as well as my owl, whom I had named Ebony, was perched in her cage, which was on the table beside my bed.
I walked over to her and opened the cage, letting her fly out and onto my shoulder.
"You like your room then?" Draco asked, still standing in the doorway.
I turned and smiled at him, "Yeah, I do. It's beautiful...and huge. I mean, I was expecting it to be big, but not this big," I said, looking around the room.
Draco just chuckled a bit.
"Dinner is at 7:30, lunch is at noon, and if you want breakfast in the morning, just ask one of the house elves when you wake up," he told me.
"Okay, thanks," I said.
"I'll be in my room if you need me," he said, before turning and closing the door.
I walked over to the window closest to me, which I found was actually double glass doors, opening out onto a beautiful balcony.
From the balcony, I had a view of the large expanse of land that made up the rest of Malfoy Manor, aside from the house -more like mansion.
I just stood there, looking up at the sky. I had a good view of the stars, and I was enjoying it. Growing up I would go out at night and either lay on the roof or on the grass and stare up at the stars.
I stood there, lost in thought, for what felt like only a few minutes, but was probably a lot longer. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't hear someone walk up behind me, so I nearly jumped out of my skin when that person spoke.
"What are you thinking about?" Draco asked, walking up beside me.
After I recovered from my mini heart attack he just gave me, I replied, "Nothing really, why?"
"No reason," he shrugged.
"So, I know I'm not the best at befriending people, but if things had gone the way they were planned when we were younger, I wouldn't have to do this. I'd like to get to know you better. You are, after all, my brother, and if things had happened differently, we would've grown up together, like we were supposed to. I know we have a lot to catch up on, but I'm alright with that, if you are," I said, "That's what I was thinking about."
I looked at Draco, who was leaning against the railing, looking into the distance with a look on his face that made me guess that he was thinking about what I had just said.
A few moments passed before he turned to me.
"We do have a lot to catch up on," he started, "so I guess we better get started," he finished.
I smiled, then out of nowhere, stepped forward and wrapped my arms around him in a hug. I could feel him freeze for a moment, and I was about to pull back, when he did the same, wrapping his arms around me.
It was then that I felt that he had truly accepted me for me.
His sister, and most of all...
a Malfoy.
