Regina's POV
When I got on the train, I found a compartment that was only occupied by one girl. She had long, light blonde hair and blue eyes, with a soft complexion.
We could almost be twins as far as looks go.
She was staring dreamily out the window, focused on who knows what.
I slid the compartment door open, and rapped my knuckles lightly on the door to get her attention.
She looked up and smiled at me.
"Hi, mind if I sit with you? Everywhere else is full," I said.
She just nodded.
I sat down on the seat across from her after putting my luggage on the overhead rack.
She again diverted her attention from outside the window to me.
"I'm Luna Lovegood. What's your name?" she asked in a light, airy voice.
I smiled, saying, "My names Regina," I paused, deciding to go with my biological surname, and said, "Regina Malfoy."
She smiled again and went back to looking out the window.
After a few moments, she suddenly broke the silence again.
"That's a lovely name. I quite like it," she said, not averting her eyes from their gaze out the window.
I lightly chuckled, then said, "Yours too. Luna is a nice name."
"Thank you."
After that, it was silent again. But not an uncomfortable, awkward silence, just silence.
I got a book out and started reading it, and was soon so immersed in it's words that I lost track of time, and before I knew it, we were pulling up to the station in Hogsmeade.
~*~*~
Luna had just been sorted into Ravenclaw, and I knew I was going to be called soon.
I wasn't really sure which house I wanted.
Whichever would take me, I guess.
I was pulled from my thoughts by Professor McGonagall calling
"Malfoy, Regina."
I was walking up to the stool when I realized that the entire hall had gone quiet.
I nervously looked around and saw one boy at the Slytherin table looking at me with a half confused, half surprised expression.
As soon as I caught his eye, I quickly looked back forward and sat down on the stool, placing the sorting hat on my head.
It soon began to talk in my ear.
"Hmm, a Malfoy I see. Wasn't expecting to see another one of you...let me see, you're cunning, you're very clever. You have a strange talent for getting around the rules. But you're also loyal, and you have courage."
"Hmm," it continued, "Better be...SLYTHERIN!"
I jumped off the stool and went and sat down at the Slytherin table, as the next person was being called up.
After the sorting ended, and the food appeared, I was approached by the same pale boy who was looking at me earlier.
He was a blonde boy, with slicked back hair, and he looked like he was a second year.
Up closer, I could see his eyes were a pale grey.
"Can I help you?" I asked after he sat down and stared at me for a while.
"Yes. What was your name again?" he asked.
"Regina Malfoy. Why? What's yours?" I said/asked.
He looked shocked for a moment before replying.
"Malfoy. Draco Malfoy."
"Oh, hi," I said, then realized what he had said.
"Wait, what? Malfoy? Your last names Malfoy? Who are you?" I asked, hurriedly.
"I was about to ask you the same question," he said, "we look like we could be siblings, but I haven't seen you before in my life, so you couldn't be, " he said, looking down at his plate and putting some food on it.
"Um, actually, I could be. My parents said they found me on the street when I was a baby. They didn't know who my real parents were until I got my Hogwarts letter," I said.
He looked back up, eyebrows raised in surprise.
"Who raised you?" he asked, curiously.
"A wizard couple in northern Scotland. The Rivers," I said.
A relieved look spread across his face.
"Well, at least you were raised by wizards, and not muggles," he said, "I'll write to mother tonight and ask about you. If anyone knows it'll be her and father, obviously."
"Okay," I said, beginning to eat again.
*Meanwhile, over at the Gryffindor table*
"Do you think she'll be as bad as him?" Harry asked Ron and Hermione.
"Look, we don't even know that she is his sister. He's never mentioned her, and they don't look like they know each other," Hermione said.
"Yeah, but look at them! They look like siblings, and now, they're getting along just fine. And she WAS put in Slytherin," Ron said, looking over at Draco and Regina Malfoy.
"Well, whether she is or isn't, it's not fair to judge her on her brother. If he even is that," Hermione added. With that, Harry and Ron looked at each other and nodded.
The three then went back to their earlier topic of conversation.
