The first bell rang sending all the students running to their block one, everyone except for school royalty. School royalty reports to the conference room as we would every other Monday. The Conference room was a lightly tinted tan classroom with a round table with enough chairs for the “Perfect 8”. I set up the SmartBoard with my PowerPoint on the introduction page. Kelly and James walked in smiling and laughing. Kelly was a tall, brown haired, hazel eyed, model like young woman. James was equally as tall as Kelly, he had a curly fade, and amazing teeth.
“Hey Al.” She ran up to me and embraced me tightly.
“Hi Kells” I hooked my neck around her shoulder, I missed my best friend this summer. Kelly went to Barcelona with her parents.
Kristin walks in like a model, hair bouncing flawlessly behind her. She held her head up high because she knew she was the best. She made sure I knew it too my Freshman Year.
"Allie Darling!" She looked a me with a evil, smug toothy smile. "You look fabulous, still a bit chuncky, but never the less fabulous."
"Hi Kristin." I said lowly with my eyes on the floor.
"Jaden baby you are just a piece of pie I would cheat my diet I nibble on."
"Hey Krissy." He smiled his award winning smile, I scoffed.
He shrugged like he was unaware of why I was upset.
I figured this was my chance to make a fool of Krissy. "Hey Krissy?" She looked up at me from her seat. "You should keep your eyes off my boyfriend and worry about where you Dutch is."
"Oh you thought this was an open oppurtunity to make fun of me?" She look pissed, her cinnamon honey skin turn red around her t-zone."My Dutch is off doing some bimbo in classroom-X. I am glad you know how to be sensitive."
I didn't realize or hear about Michael's affair "behind" Krissy's back. Oh god. "Kris-." She ran out the room. My eye glued to the door where Tamika Howard stood looking flawless as ever.
"Allie this position is not about getting even, it's bout making this school look good, creating the royal image that we have worked so hard to uphold. What you just did is a horrid way to start off you ruling." She spoken soft and stiffly disappointedwn in my chair. I could see everything crumbling around me already. "Why are you sitting, this is your meeting? Aren't you prepared?" She continued.
"I am." I stood up, my confidence instantly regained. "Welcome to the first weekly meeting of the Kingsley Court High School Nobility. Our first event this year, while its still hot, is our school's Annual Ms.Kingsley Court Beauty Pageant. We will divide the jobs four catagorize; Catering, Contestants, Decorating, and Records. Kells and James your on Catering, Tiara and Izaiah your on Contestants, and Krissy and Michael are on Decorating. You all need to find a group of students to help you with your section including a teacher whose classroom you can use. Meetings for the beauty pageant are on Thurdays at 5 right after cheer and football practice. And that concludes our homeroom meeting time so see yall of you at lunch." Everyone picked up their bags and notebooks and left in pairs and Jayden kissed my cheek then left. Except Tamika, she still stood by the door.
"Your gonna compete, you know that right?" She sounded more commanding than asking.
"I didn't realize I had too." I packing my bag to head to my office before heading to my English class.
"Yeah you do. It's a tradition, and you have to win. What would it look like if a nobody Barbie won and Became Miss Kingsley Court?" Bad I thought. "Exactly." She began to approach me but I was scared so I stepped back." I am not gonna bite, just trying to take some measurements."
"Why?" I asked.
"Your looking kinda thick, too thick for beauty queen." She replied flatly.
I was shocked, I lost 30 pounds this summer. I was 120 now.
"Lift your arms." I immediately followed her command.
"38-22-39, What are you eating?" She looked up at me, I opened my mouth." You know what don't answer that. Whatever it is it needs to stop right now."
I bite my lip, to try and focus the feelings I was bottling up on something else. "Okay." I managed to say.
"You need to take it down some. 34-18-34 inches and 95-100 lbs; your goals are these measurements. Every one of Kingsley Court Queens met these requirements and as will you. If I could manage, so can you. You got the green eyes and brown hair, but your not the perfect queen." With that she wrapped her measuring tape up and left.
I took out my phone and called my dad.
"Hey daddy. Do you think you can call me out of school just for today? Why? Because I have some appointment with Dr.Sanka. Really! Oh good! Thank you daddy!" I hung up. I walked out of the conference room and the bell to go to first block rang. Jayden would be taking this hall to go to his gym class. I had to hustle before he caught up to me and I would have to lie to him just as I did to my daddy. I could bare lying to my dad because even though I love him, he hasn't always been the good dad he is now. But Jayden has been with my since kindergarten year and never really judged me, and went out with me even throughout my geeky days.
I felt hands wrap around my waist, pulling me back into the owners body and they kissed lightly on my neck. "Allie your class is in the West-Wing. Why are you still in East-Wing?"
I was could feel guilt eating at me already, "uh, I am leaving earlier."
" I can see that, but why?" He was still behind me with his firm body still pressed against mine.
"Jayden, your gonna be late." I quickly changed the subject, he looked at his watch, hugged me then ran off. Even a slight touch from Jayden sent chills up my spine. I felt a bit better but I still need to go home to home.
