Before Bruce disappeared into his lab, he let the two super soldiers know that they could take her out of the med bay. FRIDAY would be constantly monitoring her vitals to make sure that if anything happened that the Avengers couldn't see, they would know instantly.
"Come on Buck, let's get her to bed and we can think of ways to help her cope. Lupo needs all the sleep she can get.", Steve knew that Bucky would be extra protective of Lupo knowing that she was fragile.
A lot more fragile then when they first brought her home.
Bucky slowly moved to get off the bed with Lupo in his arms. Not wanting to wake her. When he successfully got off the hospital bed without waking her, the three started the walk to Bucky's flat. Just one floor up from the med bay next to Steve's. They crossed paths with Clint and Sam who looked on with a soft smile. Steve opened the door and let Bucky in first, letting him go into his room and set Lupo on the bed. Bucky c pulled back the comforter and gently tucked her in. He didn't want to leave her alone, but Lupo needed her rest and Bucky needed a game plan.
Bucky went back into the living room where Steve was sitting. The sum shining through the curtains. He sat down acrossed from him on a chair while Steve was on the couch. They were talking about so many different things on how to help her. The food was obviously not a problem. A therapist, maybe. Bucky thought that she wouldn't like talking to a stranger. Steve on the other hand, thought it wouldn't hurt to at least try. They were coming up with suggestions and thoughts when they hurt a blood curdling scream coming from Bucky's room.
Lupo's scream.
Both Steve and Bucky ran into the room to see Lupo tossing and turning in her sleep. Tears running down her face. Sobs coming from her mouth.
A nightmare. A terrifying one.
Bucky kneeled by the bed and started to shake her awake gently. Steve told FRIDAY to get Wanda to see if she could help in any way. Lupo was fighting in Bucky's hands. Whatever was going on behind her closed eyes, she was fighting for life. Wanda ran in and only had to take one look at Lupo before the red mist of her powers flowed from her hands around Lupo's head.
Bucky couldn't move fast enough when Lupo' s fist came towards his face. A surprised cry came out of his mouth when the fist came in contact with his cheek. But, Bucky's cry of pain was the thing that woke Lupo up.
Lupo jumped awake when she heard Bucky cry. Looking around, through blurry vision from the tears, she could make out Steve, Bucky, and Wanda. Bucky rubbing the left side of his face. All with worried eyes trained on her.
Something broke inside her. Broken sobs left her throat. Tears cascaded down her cheeks. The nightmare was a flashback from when her first family died to when she woke up. Her mind being sixteen, couldn't handle the trauma being thrown at it.
The three people could only feel their hearts shatter when they saw the light leave Lupo's eyes. Bucky scooped Lupo up into his arms, holding her tightly to his body. This was like seeing his daughter break infront of him. Bucky rocked Lupo side to side, trying to calm her down. Steve brought Wanda into a hug, trying to calm her tears. Slowly, guiding them out of the room to give Bucky and Lupo the room. Shutting the door, to give them privacy.
"It's okay doll. It will be okay. I promise. Everything will be okay.", Bucky whispered into her ear, holding her close. Letting her listen to his heart beat. "I will do everything in my power to make sure everything will be okay sweetheart."
And Bucky would make his promise come true. No matter what he had to do.
