15: Other Option

Bucky held Lupo tightly against his chest, letting her listen to his heartbeat to calm her down. Her tears had stopped, soft hiccups were the only thing coming from her. His metal hand came up to run his fingers through her hair. Gently shushing her while rocking them both back and forth. Bucky's mind was going a mile a minute to find something to help Lupo. Anything. When something Bruce said got him thinking.

They could try to get her to shift back to her dog form. See if it would be easier to cope.
Bucky couldn't help but smile at his plan. So engrossed in his mind, Bucky didn't realize Lupo was looking at him like he was crazy. Which in her mind, someone randomly smiling like a crazed maniac after something horrible happened? Yeah, Lupo thought he had more screws loose then she originally thought.

Lupo unclentched his shirt from her right hand and slowly poked Bucky's cheek with her pointer finger. Trying to snap him out of whatever was happening. Thankfully, it worked like a charm. Bucky snapped out of his thinking trance to see Lupo giving him a weird look.

"Sorry, Doll. I have a plan though. We can try to get you to shift back into your original form. See if that helps you. I bet it's a whole lot easier to be a dog then a confusing human.",Bucky smiled, hoping shifting back would help Lupo. Tickling her sides to get her to smile?

That was just a bonus for him.

"Being human is very confusing.", Lupo shyly smiled up at the man who gave her this amazing life with a loving family.

"You don't know the half of it. Why don't you try to shift back? Think of how it feels to walk on four legs, how it feels to have the wind blowing through your fur. What the dirt feels like under your-. Why are you looking at me like that? I've read my fair share of werewolf books alright? I figured it wouldn't hurt to at least try.", Bucky was not ashamed of his pick of reading material. In fact, he was quite proud of himself for having possibly some good knowledge on the subject.

Lupo, she looked at him like he had grown two heads. She has heard stories and had seen movies of the supernatural world. Never would she have ever thought, in her wildest dreams, that she would be in this situation. Instead of a human turning into a beast, it was the beast that turned human by the evil in the world. Only, this wasn't a fairy tale.

Bucky could see the wheels turning in Lupo's head. To get her mind off of whatever she was thinking to hard about, he reached over to the nightstand and grabbed a picture. A picture of Bucky, Steve, and Lupo. The same picture Bucky gave to Steve for his birthday.

"Go ahead doll. Close your eyes, and in vision what it's like to be a dog.", Bucky watched as Lupo took a good look at the picture. Taking every detail of her dog self in.

Lupo set the picture down and shuffled to the middle of the bed. Away from Bucky in case something bad happened. Lupo closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and thought back to what it was like being on four legs.

Lupo felt something shift in her brain. Her muscles tightened. A gasp in pain from Lupo was the only thing letting Bucky know, his plan had worked. Bones snapped and rearranged. Grunts and yelps in pain could be heard from her. Tears streamed down her face as it changed its form. Fur sprouted along her skin. Her nose and mouth elongated. Her teeth sharpened. The metal of her arm whirring and clicking as it rearranged itself to a dog paw and leg.

Minutes had passed before Lupo was laying in her wolfy form in the middle of the bed. The clothes she wore, making her look ridiculous and uncomfortable. Bucky hated every second, only being able to stand there helpless. It seemed to him that she was holding back how much pain she was really in while that happened.

Soft whimpers came from Lupo's dark muzzle. Trying to move to get comfortable, she realized she really couldn't with the clothes that now restricted every muscle in her body from moving. A groan of annoyance leaving her muzzle.

That didn't stop Bucky from chuckling at her. Also taking a quick picture while she growled at him. He couldn't help himself.

"Let's get you out of those clothes. I know you're tired and probably hurting from all of that. So, I'll just cut them off. Don't worry, no one will be upset Doll.", Bucky smiled as he got the pocket knife from his nightstand and gently cutting away the clothes that had become way to small for the large dog. Smiling wider when he heard a long, deep sigh coming from Lupo when the restricting clothing was off.

Bucky gently picked Lupo up in his arms, her head resting on his flesh arm. He de ided that Lupo needed to be around the crazy family that she loved so much. Walking out of his room, Steve and Wanda turned their attention to both of them. Seeing that Lupo was back in her dog form, they figured out that Bucky took Bruce on the possible coping mechanism.

"Why don't we have a movie night tonight? I think all of us could use a relaxing night. I also think, since Lupo is able to change into a human, she should be getting human food.", Wanda had a smirk on her face. Knowing Lupo would be perfectly fine with both ideas.

Hearing the small bark, Wanda knew she was right. She told Friday to get everyone ready for the movie night, and also to get their regular pizza order from a local pizza place. Knowing Lupo would have no problem with pizza. She then went to go get a bunch of blankets for everyone, while Steve walked beside Bucky while he carried Lupo to the living room.

Surprisingly, Tony was the first one to be in the living room with a gadget in his hands. Looking, for him, naturally smug. Pietro then blurred to the couch.

"We have our wolf back! Good because I was hoping to try this new invention.", Tony smiled while he picked up the invention from the table.

Bucky gently laid Lupo down on her fluffy dog bed next to the couch. Steve sitting on the end of the couch next to them. Both having a weird look on their faces. Once again.

Tony Stark doing something nice for an animal? For a second time?

Lupo obviously held a special place in Tony Starks heart. Which everyone in the tower absolutely loved. Tony walked over, sitting down next to Lupo and Bucky on the floor. Letting Lupo smell the invention that he spent so long to get it right.

"I had this idea since you adopted her. Been working on it ever since. A collar that will be able to generate her doggy thoughts to human speech. She has spunk and she loves to talk back. I'm sure everyone wondered what she was saying.", Lupo moved her head to give Tony some sweet, slobbery dog kisses on his face.

" Okay, okay. No more slobber. I know you love me. Who can't?", Tony would never admit it but he absolutely loved Lupo's kisses.

Everyone else had wondered into the living room to see the interaction. No one saying a word to ruin the sweet moment. A rare moment for Tony Stark. Tony put the collar on. Which was just Lupo's old collar they found in the alley with a small box that rested against her neck.

Bucky wondered where the collar went. Now he knew.

"Alright, that should be good.",Tony Stark had a bug smile on his face. Knowing he did a good thing. It also ended his curiosity on what she was thinking when she would bark or growl back at someone.

Sam and Clint got the two reclining chairs. In order on the couch from left to right, Steve, Natasha, Wanda, Pietro and finally Tony on the other end. Bucky pulled a blanket over himself and Lupo. Feeling her relax into his chest, while he layed on his side. Everyone ate the pizza that had been delivered. Lupo had two slices for herself. She hasn't said a thing, making Tony think he needed to tinker with the invention for Lupo.

The movie was turned on, Lord Of The Rings. Lupo could barely keep her eyes open. Feeling loved, warm, and most importantly...Safe. No one said a word throughout the movie. Until the invention on Lupo's collar said four words in an American accent.

Four words that made everyone's heart warm with love for the wolf.

"I love my family."
