"What?!"
When I whip around in shock, Jimin is already long gone and the sound of Taehyung and Haeun's laughter hit the backs of my ears.
"Did he just say that he was going to work?!" Haeun giggles as she peeks out the window. "I guess he didn't hear the Taehyung and Gucci part."
"Hey! Wait!" I call as I hurriedly slip on shoes, ignoring that one of them is practically flapping off of my foot. "Park Jimin!"
When I run out the door and look left and right, I see the back of Jimin's silver head disappear down the corner.
"Hey!"
After I finally run myself the entire distance I'd move in a month, I glimpse Jimin's familiar figure behind the transparent glass of a café.
He's wearing a dark apron, smiling softly at a customer as he sets down a plate of strawberry cake.
When I come in, his head snaps up.
"Welcome to— Minah?!"
"When did you get a job here?" I ask furiously as he tilts a confused face at me. "I was kidding about the street part, you know— I'm sorry I didn't tell you the truth."
"Wait— we're not going to live out in the streets?" He asks, eyes wide with a marbled mug of latte clutched in his hand. "Really?"
"That's my latte."
A cold voice echoes from behind me, and I nearly jump a foot into the air as a hand snakes out to snatch the mug from Jimin's stunned hands.
"Playing around at a café like this— I guess you've given up on winning, huh?" My teeth grind when I see the last person I want to see leaning against the table.
"Park Jimin."
"Leave him alone." I snap, already feeling guilty when I see crimson blushing Jimin's cheeks. "Go chug your damn latte or something. Geez."
"Let's go."
"Wait— but I promised the nice lady over there I'd work my entire shift!" He protests as I drag him over to the front door. "I can't just leave her hanging—"
I sigh.
"Okay. But I'm going to stay here, too." I say, glaring at Jisung's smug face as he crosses his legs. "I'll be over there."
Then a loud shatter echoes throughout the entire café.
"Oops."
I'm going to kill him.
"Can you please take care of this?" He asks innocently as I imagine sticking my foot up his smirking mouth. "So sorry— it was a mistake."
When I pull up my sleeves, Jimin suddenly pushes me back. He gives me a wordless look before approaching Jisung, bending down to sweep the glass shards into his palms.
That piece of crap.
"That will be fifteen dollars, sir." Jimin says coldly as he brushes the glass from his hands. "For the latte and the mug."
Yes— go Jimin!
"Oh— I think I accidentally left my wallet at home." He says briskly, getting up way too quickly. "Let me just go get it—"
He slams into the table next to his.
My mouth drops open as the two women sitting there gasp in surprise as their mugs tip off the table and explode into tiny shards on the floor.
