The Call

"Hello?"

A sleepy voice said through the line.

"Hey Yoongi, it's Hoseok." He said, trying to keep his voice down for Yoongi's sake.

"Hoseok?! GAH-!"

Hoseok heard a loud crash and thud through the phone and got worried.

"Are you okay?!" He asked Yoongi.

"Owowowowieie!" Yoongi groaned over the phone.
"Yeah, just a couple bruises. Sorry, I didn't expect a call so soon. Shocking is putting it mildly."

"Oh, sorry. Were you busy?"

Hoseok waited for Yoongi's reply in silence for a solid minute.

"Ummm...Yoongi?"

"Hmm?"

"Should I call you back? You seem out of it." Hoseok said, scrunching his nose.

Silence. Again.

'What is happening?
He's ignoring you.
Is he falling asleep?
He's just being polite and not hanging up so you'll feel better.
He's probably asleep.
That's what he wants you to think.'

"Yoongi?" Hoseok asked again.

"Hmm?! Oh, sorry. I was sleeping before you called and I'm a bit out of it." He said groggily.

Hoseok still couldn't believe he was talking on the phone with a guy who he'd literally been staring at for about three months now. Yoongi sounded so close that it made Hoseok feel safe. Like nothing could harm him when he was with Yoongi.

"So, why did you call so late? It's almost 10 PM."

Yoongi's voice snapped him out of his daydream and he panicked for a second. Was he actually gonna tell him that he just wanted to hear his voice?

"I-uhh-wanted to check if the number actually worked! Yeah!"

Hoseok smacked his forehead and groaned silently.

'Oh, my God. I literally JUST SAID THAT.'

"Oh, well, it works. Happy?"

"Yep! Good night Yoongi!"

"Night."

The line went flat.

Hoseok took a deep breath and actually screamed in his car. He'd just said good night without even thinking! And Yoongi said "Night" in such a chill way! Hoseok squealed like a high school girl getting asked to the prom.

After he calmed down, he drove home and showered, changed, and flopped on his bed to grin at the ceiling. He fell asleep with the knowledge that he'd gotten one step closer to his goal.
