I looked longingly down at the grinning boy who stood on one knee in front of me. Covering my gleaming eyes with my hands his voice broke the silence that engulfed us as people circled around, some filming, others whispering
"Y/F/N (your full name) I know we've only been dating for 8 months, but I know I love you and that I want to spend the rest of my life with you." I let out a happy chuckle as tears streamed down my face. He opened the black velvet box he had been holding to reveal the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. It had a thin silver band and a quartz shaped like the moon with a diamond star next to it.
"I really hope you feel the same... Marry me?" I cover my mouth as happy tears trailed down my cheeks and shook my head rapidly. His smile grew even wider as he clearly let out a breath he had been holding in before standing up and walking towards me. He took my hands in his and gently slide the ring onto my finger. Cheers erupted all around us as he pulled me into a hug. Once I had composed myself I pulled away and gently hit his shoulder
"Ow, what was that for" he laughed
"How could you do this at someone else's wedding" I smiled
"It was Meredith's idea, I was gonna propose at like.. Home on the couch or something" i opened my mouth and looked at him as he laughed "She had the same facial expression, so here we are" I smiled at his reaction then we continued on with the reception as normally as possible. I immediately got bombarded by all of my friends as the boys pulled my smiling Fiance away
"Let me see"
"That was so cute"
"Hes whipped"
"Holy- look at that ring" I laughed at all of the responses I heard. I lifted my head and made eye contact with Rhi who was clearly happy for me, but i could see the sadness in her eyes
"Would you ladies excuse me" I made my way over to where she was sitting
"Girl you're getting married"
"Your time will come" I smiled
"Im not so sure" she looked over at joey briefly
"That boy loves you, trust me" I smiled patting her back. She smiled up at me lightly before turning her attention back to her drink on the table in front of her. I suddenly spot Meredith waving to Lauren over on the other side of the room. I usher her over to Rhi and I, she comes slightly jogging over squealing something incoherent that must me about my engagement or her marriage as she squeals, frantically pointing to her ring finger.
"Oh my god you're married! I'm so happy for you!" I say with nothing but love in my heart. She stops squealing and looks at me like I'm completely stupid.
"You dork, YOU'RE ENGAGED!" she yells. Rhi looks incredibly worried for Meredith's vocal chords at this point, but nonetheless, we laugh.
"It's all thanks to you. Thank you for talking him out of proposing at home." Rhi looks shocked.
"He was thinking of what?" She exclaims whilst putting her hands on her head in disbelief. I put one hand on her shoulder and another on Meredith's.
"What I'm trying to say is thank you, Meredith. You didn't have to but you did because you're selfless and kind and...Brian is so lucky to have you." Meredith looks as if she's about to cry but she pulls me in for a hug which I gladly accept. I push away from her saying
"Speak of the devil." At that moment Brian walks up to us, holding out his hand for Meredith to take.
"Sorry to interrupt this gathering but I'd like to kidnap my wife." Rhi and I chuckle whilst Meredith stares at Brian questioning his sanity. She ultimately agrees and says goodbye as she's whisked away by her husband, hand in hand. I can't imagine the joy they must have between them. I think back to Rob and I and how it'll be at our wedding
But today's not my day.. yet. I stood up and walked over to Rob as a slow song started playing.
"Here" Joey took the drink that was in his hand as I whisked him away so we could dance. I rested my head on his chest and listened to our heart beats in sink as we swayed to the music
"I love you" he whispered in my ear
"I know" I smiled cheekily at him. He playfully rolled his eyes before gleaming down at me
"I love you too"
