Chapter twenty-one

“LUKE DON’T” I screamed trying not to let any tears fall. Jai was limping while one of his arms was placed around my neck. Lets just say the three of us all looked like fucking shit. “She’s right Luke, don’t” Jai weakly replied. “They need to be stopped” Luke breathed. “If you kill them, you become the bad person Luke” I stated hoping that I would change his mind but all I saw in his eyes were darkness. Darkness that I haven’t seen for a very long time. “I don’t care,” He stated while grabbing out a pocketknife. My eyes widened while I tried to think of an idea. Jai saw that I was struggling. “Its okay Sammy” Jai whispered. “NO ITS NOT, I HAVE TRIED SO HARD TO CHANGE HIM” I screamed causing Luke to turn around. He looked at me for a second and I saw hurt in him. “I am doing this because I love you Sammy and I love everyone around me, if I don’t do this they will come back. All of them will come back then I will be left with no one because you will all be dead. I am doing this so I don’t have to work for them again, ever.” Luke sighed. I shook my head while shivering just a little bit. My hands were all bloody because I tried to stop Jai bleeding which worked for a while. Luke did have a point but this wasn’t the way to solve this fucked up situation. “Luke listen to me, we have your brother right here, he is alive and breathin-” “HE IS ALIVE AND BREATHING BECAUSE WE FOUND HIM JUST IN TIME” Luke screamed at me causing me to stumble a little. Jai’s weight all on me wasn’t helping either. “I have to do this.” He was shaking; he walked up to her unconscious body and leaned down. I turned around as soon as I heard her scream.

 

4 HOURS EARLIER.

 

“Don’t you ever get scared of me?” Luke asked me while I was following behind him. I shook my head. “No you don’t scare me.” I replied back. I heard him groan. “What about the things I do,” he whispered. Before I could reply Luke placed his finger on my lips signalizing me to be quite. He looked into my eyes and I swear I saw him scared for once. I raised my eyebrows slightly showing that I had a confused expression. Suddenly Luke’s eyes widened. He took his finger away and rubbed his temples. “This is all a game, a fucking game,” He whispered. “What do you mean?” I quickly respond. “It’s a game, we just need to solve the clues” Luke laughed. “Well then lets do it” I half smiled and leaned up to kiss his cheek. “How the fuck did I get so lucky” He whispered. “I ask myself the same question about you every day” I replied back causing the sides of his lips to curve into a smile. “Come on lets go find your brother,” I suggested and he obviously agreed.

“How do you know where he is exactly?” “Well, I use to hang out with Amanda and I’m hoping she took Jai to her usual spot” Luke spoke with a shaky voice. “Hey don’t worry you bumped into Jai before” I rubbed his arm. “But I couldn’t take him with me because I was out numbered” Luke shook his head.

“We are nearly there,” Luke informed. I nodded slowly. “Wait Luke I don’t want you to get hurt” I spoke as we stood in front of a really shaggy building. He looked over at me and licked his lips. “You can’t get rid of me that easily” He smiled which caused me to giggle. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it tightly. “You ready?” He asked. “Ready as I’ll ever be.” “Just promise me something,” I asked Luke. “Anything.” “Don’t go back to your bad ways Luke, please.” He nodded and embraced me in a hug.

 

PRESENT TIME

I dragged Jai outside and laid him on the floor. I brought his top up a little and turned my head. His wound was bad. Very bad. I pulled a face while I heard jai weakly laugh. “How is he?” Luke asked as he kneeled down towards Jai and I. I didn’t reply. I heard Luke sigh. “I’m going to call a cab to take us to the hospital” He informed. I took in the information and ripped a bit of my t-shirt. I placed it on Jai’s wound and pressed down to stop the bleeding. He winced and my heart sank. “I’m so sorry Jai,” I whispered. He shook his head. He obviously couldn’t talk because of the pain. “Cab will be here in 5” Luke called out. I nodded. “Are you seriously going to ignore me?” Luke harshly asked. I turned my full attention to him. “You promised me, you promised Luke.” “Sammy” He sighed “I had to kill her.” “YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO KILL AMANDA YOU DIDN’T FUCKING HAVE TO, NOW JESS OR WHOEVER MIGHT COME AFTER US BECAUSE OF YOUR STUDIPNESS” I screamed letting out all my emotions. “I can’t speak to you right now” I breathed while concentrating back on Jai. I had to somehow stop the bleeding. The cab pulled up a few meters away from us so I decided to try and pick up Jai, which I failed at, bad. Luke picked up Jai tensing his muscles and with no struggle whatsoever he placed Jai in the back seat.

“It’s been 40 minutes and you haven’t said a word to me” Luke finally rung. We were now sitting in the waiting room at the hospital. “Have you called the others?” I murmured. “Sammy,” “just answer the question Luke” I shot back. “They all will be here soon.” He half smiled.

 “I’m sorry” Luke blurted out. “Don’t be sorry for me, be sorry because you killed an innocent person” I whisper yelled. “So you are going to be mad at me forever?” Luke asked in a worried tone. “I would love to, but I can’t do that I can never stay mad at you. I’m jus-st angry at you right now.” I turned to my side and decided to look out the window. “Luke Brooks?” I heard a low voice address; I turned my head to see a man with glasses. We both stood up. “Uh yes that’s me” Luke quickly let out. “Hello you two I’m Dr Swan, Jai is going to be just fine” He smiled at the both of us. We both let out a breath that I didn’t know we were holding. “He is just going to need a lot of rest until his wounds heel up.” “Can I see him?” Luke asked. “Yes, you both can” And with that he walked away.

3 WEEKS LATER

I was sitting on my bed reading a really shitty book to go with my really shitty mood. I haven’t spoken to Luke for 3 fucking weeks and yes I did miss him. A lot. If you are wondering about Jai, he is fine and recovering quickly. We all are fine; well I just act like I’m fine but these past 2 months of my life have been the weirdest. Yes I have been avoiding Luke but he broke my promise. I also do blame myself for trying so hard to change him. I have been crying myself to sleep for 3 weeks. Wow I’m so moody. I don’t even know if we are together anymore. It hurt me to think about it. I closed my book and chucked it across the room. Suddenly my door busted open. I jumped a little and let out a yelp. “What the fuck” I breathed while pretending to clutch my heart. “You scared the shit out of me Alex,” I laughed. She smiled and sat on my bed. “Your parents let me in if you were wondering” She smiled. I nodded and lied back down on my bed. “Nooo” Alex dragged her words while pulling me back up. “Whatttttt” I mimicked her. “You have legit been cramped up in your room for fuck knows how long” Alex chuckled. I rolled my eyes. “Shouldn’t you be with Jai?” I questioned. “Nah he told me to come see you.” “Oh well thank you for coming to cheer me up but I’m fine” I grinned. Alex gave me a ‘yeah right’ look. “I just miss Luke,” I whispered. Alex hugged me tightly causing my lungs to die. Not literally but I couldn’t breath. I pushed her off and took a deep breath. “Sorry, tried to comfort you” She smirked. “You mean kill my lungs” I replied back smugly. “Wanna go hang out with the boys?” Alex asked. “Will Luke be there?” “Yes of cour-” “Then no” I stated harshly. “You have to face him sometime Sammy, so get your ass up, get dressed and I’ll meet you outside.” She left before I could reply.

I definitely was not ready to face Luke.
