Anna's P.O.V.
She...she left me. My sister left me. Forever. I will never see her again unless I, too, join the Erudite next year. And that's exactly what I'll do.
I stand up, and try to run to Elsa, but she is long gone, heading down the elevator. I just don't understand. Why would she choose them?
I start to jog back to my faction, and then I run down the stairs. Like always, we run up the large hill, and wait for the train. My heart beats ecstatically, and I love it. It fill me with adrenaline. Pleasure.
I clutch the handle, and jump. I place my hands on my knees to chatch my breath.
As I pant, I notice a girl clutching the handle, and dangling in mid air. What washer name again? Merissa? I don't know, but what I do know is that she was friends with Elsa. She also was an Amity.
I take her hand, and pull her into the cart. She pants, and says "thank yoo". Hmm. Strange accent.
"I'm Anna," I say. She looks up at me questionly.
"Yoor Elsie's seester aren't yoo?"
"Yeah, that's me," I reply sadly. She puts a hand on my shoulder.
"Eym Merida," she says warmly. I smile.
Merida looks over my shoulder, and scowls.
"Eye shoulda known 'at yood be 'ere Jack. Sounds a wee bit typical."
Jack. That name...
I turn around and see a figure with white hair leaning on a wall with his arms crossed as if he's some sort of "bad boy". I walk up to him and punch him in the face. I punch him once more in the neck, knocking the wind out of him.
"OW!! WHAT WAS-*cough cough*-THAT FOR??" he yells. I take a fistful of his black jacket, and hold it against the wall, forcing him to look in my eye.
"The first was for my sister. The second was for driving her off to the Erudite, and this-" I smack him in the face as hard as I can, "is for taking her away from me!"
I know Jack. He bullies Elsa. He probably drove her mad. She probably wanted to get away from him so much that she went to the Erudite. Away from me. She left me because of him.
Jack's nose is dripping blood, and he has a black eye. I was about to hit him one more time, but Hans pulled me away. I turn to him, and he kisses me forehead. I lightly shove him.
"Not now! I'm enraged!" I yell at him. He may be my boyfriend, in which Elsa doesn't know, but I don't want kisses when I'm in the middle of beating a bully up.
Hans put his hands up in surrender.
"Okay, okay, sorry. Just wanted to calm my princess down," he smirks. I roll my eyes and walk away, leaving Jack to wipe the blood from his nose.
Jack's P.O.V.
What is wrong with her?!? She punched and slapped me because of Elsa! And I barely did anything to her!!
Well at least I know now not to mess with Elsa's sister.
Something inside me jolts when I remember that Elsa's gone. I don't know why, but I feel like I'm going to miss picking on her. Haha.
The train slows down, but does not stop. I get glares from Merida, but I ignore her.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see someone jump.
"Hey!!" I scream, but they're gone. Why would someone jump? We're seven stories up!!
A second later I realize that it was Anna. Oh no. If I ever meet Elsa again...I'm dead.
Then another jumps. It was Merida. Why are they jumping? Do they want a death wish?
More jump. I decide to look out the compartment door, and that's when I see a roof a few feet away, with some of the new initiates on it. I shrug, and stand back. I start to run as fast as possible, and then I jump, squinting my eyes shut. My feet make contact, and my ankles give in. I fall to the floor, having concrete tear up my black jacket.
I open my eyes, and get up. A few girl initiates squeak and sigh, and I just roll my eyes. I know I'm hot, but they can't have me.
I walk to the front of the newly formed crowd to see what's going on. A man with long, greasy black hair is standing on the edge of the roof, playing with a knife. Tattoos and piercings coat his skin.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Anna picking gravel out of her elbow. Blood is dripping from the scrape. Ha ha. See how she likes it.
"Welcome initiates. My name is Eric. I'm the new instructor and leader of the Dauntless. We Dauntless believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.
"Now that I've been introduced," he steps down, "the only way into the Dauntless is to jump. If you don't jump...you're out."
"When yoo say 'out' do yoo mean...factionless?!?" Merida gasps.
"Yes, redhead, I do," Eric smirks. Merida looks like she's about to punch him, but before she did, Anna stepped up where Eric stood.
"I'll go first," she said. Is she crazy? There's nothing but a black out at the bottom!!
"Very well, Anna. Very well," Eric says, and takes a few steps back. Anna looks at the sky and closes her eyes. She takes a deep breath, and jumps. I didn't hear a scream or shriek from her. Instead, I heard a sound that a rope makes when pulled. There's a net at the bottom.
I walk to where Anna stood, and do the same as her. Before I jump, I hear squeals from the girls.
"What's your name, hot-shot?" Eric said.
"Jack."
And with that, I jump.
