(2 Months Later...)
A stream of light hit Pete's face, stirring him in his sleep. He groaned and moved an arm over his eyes. "Go away," he mumbled to the light. When his request was denied, he rolled over and threw his arm over the empty bed beside him.
He immediately pushed his upper body up and looked to verify that no one was next him. He rolled over again to sit up. He scanned the room and saw he was the only one there. Pushing the covers back, he got up and ran out the door in just his boxers.
He searched each room, ending in the living room. His heart was racing when he still didn't see anyone. There was a voice coming from the kitchen and he followed it. He stopped at the doorway and sighed in relief. He leaned against the door frame and watched Patrick dancing around in one of his shirts.
Pete smiled as he watched the boy wiggling around while he cooked. Patrick used the spatula in his hand as a microphone as he sang out loud with the music.
"They're out to get you, better leave while you can. Don't want to be a boy, you want to be a man." Pete bit his lip to hold back a laugh at Patrick's horrible dance moves. "You want to stay alive, better do what you can. So beat it, just beat it."
Patrick spun around and let out a squeak when he saw Pete watching him. The older man walked over to him and wrapped his arms around his waist. Pete dipped his head down and planted a kiss on Patrick's lips.
"Why'd you stop?" He saw Patrick's cheeks shining a bright red.
"I thought you were sleeping."
"I couldn't sleep without you beside me," Pete murmured as he kissed Patrick again.
"The sunlight was hitting your face again wasn't it?"
"It's so bright," Pete whined. Patrick smacked him with the spatula and turned to finish cooking the bacon he had on the stove. Pete kept his arms wrapped around Patrick from behind and rested his head on the boy's shoulder.
"What are you making?"
"Breakfast," Patrick answered sarcastically. Pete rolled his eyes and reached for a finished strip of bacon. Patrick smacked his hand out of the way.
"Ow! What was that for?" Patrick gave him a big, innocent smile.
"Because I wanted to." Pete melted at Patrick's grin and couldn't resist kissing him again. Pete help onto Patrick while he finished cook. They sat beside each other at the table as they ate. Pete washed the dishes after and the two were soon back in Pete's room.
"Let's go out today," Pete whispered against Patrick's neck. Patrick shifted from their position on the bed and looked at his boyfriend.
"Where?"
"Let's go for a walk," Pete shrugged. Patrick nodded and made to get out of the bed. Pete stopped him, pulled him close and gazed into his eyes.
"What?" Patrick asked with a smile.
"Nothing. Just wanted to look at you." Patrick blushed and pushed Pete back to climb out of the bed. Pete sighed and did the same.
When they were ready, they walked out of the house with their hands locked. Every so often, Pete would look down at Patrick. He tripped a few times while he was staring. The boy only giggled at Pete's clumsiness.
"If you fall, I'm gonna laugh before helping you," Patrick giggled.
"I won't fall." Pete rolled his eyes with a smile on his face. They made their way to the park and took a seat at an empty bench. Pete wrapped an arm around Patrick's shoulders. He leaned into Pete and sighed contently.
Pete looked around at the other people enjoying the park. There was a little girl learning to ride a bike with her dad holding onto her seat. A jogger ran by with a German Shepard. They was a boy with light brown hair standing at the edge of the lake. Another boy with darker hair was standing behind him with his arms wrapped around the shorter's shoulders.
Pete smiled when he saw the smaller pushing at the other playfully. He watched them for a while before tensing up. Patrick looked over at Pete, feeling his body stiffen.
"What's wrong?" Pete pulled away from Patrick, keeping his eye on the couple. "Pete?"
"Wait here," Pete said before he hurried over to the couple. When he was close enough, he could hear their voices. The taller had his face buried in the other's neck causing him to laugh.
"Brendon, stop! That tickles!"
"Never," Brendon replied and caused the smaller to shriek with laughter as he continued his actions.
Pete broke into a full run toward the pair. He pulled the unsuspecting couple into a hug. Brendon automatically pushed Pete away and got in front of Ryan to protect him.
"What the fuck is wrong.." Brendon cut off when he saw Pete.
"You guys are here," Pete breathed in disbelief. He saw Ryan's head peek over Brendon's shoulder. Pete's face broke out with a large smile as happy tears built up in his eyes. Brendon moved aside and Pete pulled Ryan into a consented hug. "You're okay."
Ryan chuckled softly and hugged back. When he pulled away, Pete looked the two up and down, still in shock that they were there. They were safe and openly together.
"Thank you," Ryan whispered softly as Brendon pulled him back into his arms. They both shared a loving gaze before looking back at Pete.
"I should be thanking you. Without you, I wouldn't have Patrick. H-how are you guys even here?" Brendon opened his mouth to answer before a voice came from behind Pete.
"Pete, what are you doing?" Pete turned to Patrick.
"Babe, I want you to meet a couple people. This is Brendon and," Pete turned to motion at the two, but they were no longer there. "Ryan," he finished. He took a quick scan of the park, not seeing them anywhere. "They were right here," Pete said in confusion.
"Who?" Patrick asked, equally confused. Pete scratched the back of his head. He didn't understand. He knew he saw them and they were standing in front of him not even a minute before. And they were okay.
Pete smiled at the thought. They were okay and they were happy. Even if he didn't know where they disappeared too, he knew that much.
"Pete? Are you okay?" Pete looked down at Patrick and nodded with a smile. He leaned down and pecked Patrick's lips.
"Let's go home," When the boy nodded, Pete gave him another quick kiss. He grabbed Patrick's hand, locking their fingers. They started walking out of the park.
Pete glanced back over his shoulder quickly. He saw Brendon and Ryan watching him from their previous spot at the lake. They were wrapped in each other's arms. Ryan gave him a small wave before they both turned and walked the opposite direction, hand in hand.
Pete came to a stop and watched them until they were out of his view. He felt Patrick's hand come up and cup his cheek. He instinctively leaned into the touch. He turned his face and placed a kiss into Patrick's palm.
"Is everything alright?" Pete kept his eyes on Patrick beautiful blue ones. He wrapped his arms around the boy's waist, pulling him close. He pressed their foreheads together. His eyes closed as he drank in the closeness. He brushed his lips softly over Patrick's and smiled at the feeling.
"Everything's perfect."
