Chapter 13
*Tarynn's POV*
"Drake, meet me at the garden at the top of our school now. We need to talk."
I sent that text message to Drake and waited for his reply whilst heading towards my destination. The harder I thought about it, I just couldn't get all of it. I was so confused and what I really needed were answers. Max had been dancing round the tips of the truth from the start to the end and it was really starting to irritate me. We sat together on one table every day during our lunch breaks. As for the Elite Three, we hung out at my house, watched movies, cooked together, worked hard together and went for classes together. To me, we had already established such a strong friendship. Yet, I seemed to be the only clueless one who was left out.
I felt so insecure.
I wandered off into the deeper realms of Alfalon Institution. On the fifth floor of the school, there lay a secluded little garden that was well-guarded in a faux glasshouse. I say faux because it wasn't an actual glasshouse but an imitation, and it was smaller in size. Next to the garden was a huge lane of concrete ground.
I entered the glasshouse, inhaling the pleasant smell that wafted across the room. Different species of flowers and plants were grown here in pots. There was a lane that divided the room into half and both halves were filled with previous plants. I made my way down that lane towards the benches at the back of the room.
"Tarynn."
I looked up and saw a pair of green eyes, ones that I had been used to seeing since I was a little girl.
"I need to talk to you."
Drake walked closer to me and sat down on the bench which was on the opposite side of the table. He focused his gaze on me and I could tell that he was a little uneasy, seeing a rather serious look in my eyes. Usually, we didn't meet up alone like this too. We were always accompanied by Zoey and Max so he probably knew that I didn't ask him to meet me for nothing.
"I overheard Tiffany and Esmerelda's heated conversation just now. I think they are plotting to ruin our art exhibition."
I saw his jaw clench slightly but chose to continue.
"Also, they called you a traitor."
At that moment, he got up.
"No! I need you to stay and tell me the truth."
I rushed forward and grabbed onto his arm.
"Let go, Tarynn."
I pulled even harder and forced him to sit back down. It was, however, to no avail as he brushed me off and started to walk away from me.
"Why have you become this closed off? You were never like this in the past when we were back in elementary and now that we meet again, it's like you've become this person who just keeps everything to himself! Do you know how frustrating this all is to me?"
Abruptly, he stopped his footsteps. His face turned towards mine and he gave me a cold, hard look.
"Are you going to stay this way, forever?" I asked as I inched my way closer to him. "Are you always going to keep me in the dark?"
We were standing head to head now. I was unafraid of that look he gave me. Albeit, it shook me a bit but it was not something out of the blue. I had somewhat became immune to his glares and his murderous looks. Even Damien gave me looks like that quite frequently.
Instead, I glared at Drake.
"If you're going to continue keeping me in the shadows, be assured that you will regret. I'm not a child, Drake. I deserve to know why my life has become a travesty ever since I stepped foot into this academy. More importantly, I need to understand who made you become who you are today."
