chapter 2
* Tarynn's POV *
I peeled my eyes open groggily, in search of the noise that had disturbed me from my peaceful slumber.
Of course, the alarm clock.
Punching the alarm clock out of my sight, I flipped my comforter over and got on my feet. Rubbing my tired eyes, I walked over to my brother's room.
Entering Max's room, I kicked away the game controllers with my good foot and sat on his bed.
"Max... Get up. We need to go to school," I told him while nudging his body.
He didn't budge.
So much for Miss Nice. Since he was dead asleep, his brain must've been taking a nap too. Widening my eyes a little bit more to find my target, I braced myself and hit his head. With my own head.
"Owww!" screamed both Max and I.
Well, apparently logic wasn't with me on my theory.
"What the hell were you thinking?!" yelled Max, "that your head could sent some sparks to mine if you hit it and miraculously jolt me awake?"
"Well it worked didn't it?!" I yelled back.

Half an hour later, we were ready in our school uniforms. Mine was a white blouse with a loose bow hanging below the first button, clad with a checkered maroon skirt. I had draped a black cardigan above the whole outfit and tied my wavy brown hair into a ponytail. Max had on a white blouse with a maroon checkered tie and maroon pants. He had a beanie on his head because he was way too ashamed to show the bulge at his head, courtesy of myself.
Leaving a "went to school" note for our parents and dumping our empty bowls into the sink, I slipped into my black flats and headed out of the door with Max behind me.
Jumping into our black BMW, Max revved the engine before setting off to my new school — Alfalon Institution.
"Tarynn, just stick with Drake, Zoey or myself when we reach the school, okay?" said Max in all seriousness.
I swallowed nervously as I looked back at him to see him staring at me with his sky blue eyes looking straight at me. It was always nerve-wracking to see Max serious since he always seemed so carefree.
"W-who's Zoey and why must I do so?"
"Because after a few days of being in this school, you'll realize that you're were always with," he sighed and looked up with a gleeful expression, "the coolest people ever!" he shrieked.
Right...
"Oh and Zoey is a our good friend. She's like our elder sister, the best sister we never had." he told me.
"Hey!"
He rolled his eyes at me before resting his eyes on the campus before us.
"We're here."
Clean and posh white buildings surrounded a big campus in front of me. Marble water fountains were laid out in front, accompanied by numerous pink bougainvillea bushes. Tall trees enclosed the area which also included a large football field and swimming complex. Branded cars drove in and out of the schools as the students of Alfalon Institution greeted one another.
This school was nothing like my school back in California with its worn out buildings and crappy facilities.
Max took my bag and slung a shoulder over mine. Making our way to the principal's office, I took the chance to familiarize myself with my new school.
