chapter 5
* Tarynn' s POV *
The days flew by more quickly than I had expected. What with the art exhibition and schoolwork, time had really passed by in a flash.
The art exhibition was pretty grand scale now that people had started finding out that we were in charge of it. Well, not exactly in charge but, we were a big part of it.
Zoey had been spending all her time after school doing her paintings and Max had been handling the admin work pretty well.
On the other hand, Drake and I hadn't do much about our baking job since I was clueless about baking and Drake just seemed to have forgotten about our part of the art exhibition.
I sighed heavily. It was slightly disappointing to see him not excited to teach me to bake, truthfully. I was very bouncy and giddy when told that Drake would teach me but right now, it felt like a one-sided happiness on my part.
Well, it was already Friday and right now, I just couldn't wait to get out of class. My hands were itching to throw a pencil at the boring teacher ahead of me. The only thing holding me back was that bit of logic that told me that he could get stabbed in the back if I threw my pencil. "And so, in 1984... RINGGG!" the loud ring of the bell cut off the teacher's voice effectively as he sighed in irritation. "Alright, class is over."
Grabbing my books, I walked to my locker and stuffed them in. Students streamed out of the multiple classrooms, crowding the hallway. Just as I closed my locker door, I was greeted by the face of a very familiar person standing next to my locker.
"Tarynn."
It was Damien.
"I heard you were going to be a part of the coming art exhibition?" he asked. I stared at his lip ring, purposely avoiding his piercing gaze. "Mmm." I muttered, turning around to walk to the carpark.
He laughed as I continued to walk away from him. "C'mon. My lip ring can't be that interesting right?" I could already picture the smirk that was stretched across his face right then.
Shifting my gaze to finally face his face, I involuntarily took in a deep gulp of air. Mustering as much courage as I could to look normal to him, I stared into his eyes.
"I need to get home."
His smirk disappeared at once as a hard gaze flitted upon me. As if a reflex, I turned away from him and walked down the hallway.
"Take good care of the painting I sent in then. It is, after all, the main highlight of the whole exhibition."
His voice echoed through the hallway as I whipped my head around to look at him again. That was when I realized that he had already disappeared.
I sighed in confusion. Since when was Damien a part of the exhibition? Although in actual fact, I hadn't seen the main highlight of the art exhibition yet so I didn't know if he was kidding or not. I wasn't told who had done the artwork as well.
Through the crowd, I spotted a redhead who had her head buried in her locker. I watched as she looked around for something as I made my way to her.
"What are you looking for Zoe?" I tapped on her back as she spun around. A blank look crossed her face momentarily before she began bouncing up and down. "Oh my gosh Tarynn! I'm so excited for tonight!" she shrieked, completely ignoring my question.
I just nodded as she continued rambling on and on about our movie night afterwards. Truth to be told, movie night had kind of slipped my mind. If it weren't for her, I'd probably just head home after today and take a long, long nap.
