Hisoka sat across from Miyuki in the cafeteria after morning practice with her second bowl of rice in front of her. She had finished her first with ease but had decided to pace herself with the second bowl and any others she had after so that she wouldn't get sick. Hisoka had already gone through the process of having to eat more than she was used to when she was first learning how to play baseball because her mentors didn't want her to collapse.
"Eijun you need to eat up," Hisoka murmured kicking her brother's leg under the table. She looked at Miyuki as she kicked his leg then motioned her head towards Eijun. Miyuki glared at her.
"He is right," he said looking at Eijun who still had a full tray of food. "You won't be able to handle the afternoon practice if you don't eat."
Hisoka picked up her tray of food and walked to Ryosuke's table as her brother's cheeks filled with throw up. I am not dealing with that, she thought sweat dropping.
"Woah!! Are you okay, man?"
"Don't puke here, if you're going to puke, go out-"
"Stop it!!"
Hisoka sighed as she finished her food and went to go get more. "He is such a lightweight," she muttered, making sure to stay clear of her brother.
###
Hisoka sat off to the side of the field in the shade stretching while also sizing up all the other players that were on the baseball team. "Not many of them have any actual talent," she whispered making sure that she stretched her left leg more than any other part of her body. Hisoka had injured her left leg in her first year of middle school while playing in a baseball game with her mentors and their team. She had spent quite a bit of time in the hospital after that and was told that she might now ever play baseball again.
Obviously Hisoka didn't listen because she didn't want her mentors' teaching to go to waste. They themselves supported her especially since they believed that it was their fault that she got hurt.
Hisoka stood up and kicked the ground gently with her left foot to check to see if she had stretched it enough, because if she didn't then there would be pain shooting through her body. She smiled when there was no pain before looking up at the sky.
"I wonder how America is treating those two," she whispered thinking of her mentors who had gone to America at the beginning of her third year of middle school. She missed them. If she remembered correctly, she hasn't been as motivated to play baseball ever since they left because they were her main "cheerleaders' in a sense. Hisoka picked up her bat, running her hand along its redwood finish. As she walked over to where the other first years were, she couldn't help but notice her brother on the ground on all fours. She glanced away in embarrassment, instead of focusing her attention on the upperclassmen. All of them were monsters despite only being a year or two above the Sawamura's twins, but Hisoka herself was a monster. She had eaten four bowls of rice and was feeling completely fine.
"First years, gather up!"
Hisoka glanced up before pulling on her hat and running over. She stood beside her brother but she kept her gaze down, only glancing to her side at the boy with pink hair right next to her.
"After this, we're going to test your ability for your desired position, so put on your spikes," one of the assistant coaches yelled. "And head over to the B grounds."
Hisoka groaned inwardly. "So it finally begins, with a skill test...great," she muttered crossing her arms. She was already wearing her spikes so she just grabbed her bag and head towards the B grounds, waving to Ryosuke and Kuramochi before they disappeared from her sight. Hisoka had left in a hurry because she knew things wouldn't go too smoothly with her brother.
The coach wouldn't want words from Eijun, that much Hisoka knew with certainty. From the research she had done on him, she knew almost everything about the man. He was a man of action, not words. The coach had refused to go pro and chose to coach for his alma mater but remained an active athlete. Coach is a beast, Hisoka thought as she glanced back towards the field that she had just left. And Eijun doesn't stand a chance with how he is right now. Eijun is far from complete, but that means that he has a lot of wiggle room to grow. A lot of room to become an Ace.
An Ace needs to be reliable, and as loyal as Eijun was to his team, he wasn't exactly the most reliable pitcher at the moment. His pitches were wild and uncontrollable. Hisoka was able to catch them but she remembered how hard it was to figure out the timing when he had first asked her to catch his pitches. Hisoka could admit that he has come a long way from how he was but she also knew that her brother still had a long way to go. Experience and practice were what he needed to truly find himself but he also needed a proper teacher to guide him. Hisoka had been fine with Eijun leaving because she knew that it would greatly benefit him in the long run. She had amazing teachers that molded her into the person that she was, now Eijun needed a teacher like that.
Hisoka grabbed a baseball from the basket sitting by the gate. She gripped it before throwing it towards the outfield fence.
"90 meters," she whispered before the sound of the ball hitting the fence rang out. Hisoka didn't notice the person standing at the gate behind her, a third-year who hadn't fully come back to the team yet. He smiled and wrote something down in the notebook in his hand before walking off.
"Impressive."
And so began the opening act of the Sawamura twins' legend.
(A/N: Hey...So as you can probably see, this is a short chapter. I actually struggled to write this one because I have been focused on school and the stress has left me completely drained of energy and motivation. I will strive to make the next chapter better. Thank you for reading!)
