Fundraiser (Finale)

Today was the state senators fundraiser. Robert had asked me to be his date, but only Dwight and Oscar know about us. I said yes though. Him and I have been dating for a couple weeks now. It's been great.

Robert walked near my desk while talking to Darryl, "Ugh, I hate ties. I feel like I'm being strangled, like I'm at some erotic asphyxiation sex club, over on I-84– the Red Room, say, or Dominix."

Angela interrupted that conversation though. Thank god because that was getting a little strange. I shook my head and smiled, getting back to my work.

"(Y/N), can I please see you in the conference room?"

I turned my chair around and saw Robert staring at me. He was leaning against the doorframe.

"Alright," I stood up and walked into the conference room.

He shut the door behind me and I sat down, my back facing the blinds. He sat directly opposite of me.

"About tonight," he put his hands on top of mine, "Should we tell everyone now?"

"I think it'd be easier to explain now but that's up to you. I don't know. I'm a little nervous to tell everyone."

"There's no reason to be nervous about sharing that we love each other," I saw him smile and I grinned, "but then we'd have to file it with HR and ugh that whole mess," he said rubbing my hands.

"Well what do you want to do?"

He paused for a moment, "Let's do it now."

I smiled, "Oh, okay."

Robert and I both stood up, we saw everyone looking at the conference room. Once they noticed us looking, they got back to work. Robert opened the door for me and I walked out.

When he walked out, he began speaking, "Can I have everyone's attention?"

Everyone turned their heads to us and I looked down at my feet.

"Everyone here knows the lovely (Y/N). I would just like to inform everyone, we will be attending the fundraiser tonight together, as a couple. I'm telling you this, so nobody asks questions tonight."

I heard a few gasps and a few 'I knew its'.

I covered my face with my hands and then I felt Robert squeeze my shoulder. I uncovered my face to look at him. He smiled at me and I did the same to him.

Robert chuckled, "Okay then."

Everyone got back to their work and we headed to HR.

"Toby, we need to file our relationship," Robert said while putting his arm around my shoulders.

"Well I don't need to file it if you don't think it'll last long."

I looked down and sighed. Then I looked back to Toby, "I have a feeling it will last for a long time, so if you would just file it, that'd be great," I smiled at him.

Robert laughed at my comment, "I second that," out of the corner of my eye, I saw him look at me, "Wow, that was very courageous."

I looked to him and he licked bottom lip.

"So, Toby. What do we need to sign," I asked looking back to Toby.

He looked to Toby and then Toby explained everything. Then Robert signed a paper and then I signed it too.

When we got done, it was lunch time. So, I grabbed my lunch and headed into the break room. I sat down at the table furthest from the door.

Pam came into the room and walked to my table.

She grinned, "So, how long have you and Robert been dating?"

I chuckled and told her everything she wanted to know.

After that the day flew by and everyone asked questions about Robert and I.

It was a little overwhelming. Soon it was time to leave work and Robert offered me a ride. We made it to the fundraiser and made small talk with people.

Oscar thought the Senator was gay because he gave him his personal number. I don't know if he is or not. Andy tried to adopt all of the shelter dogs. Let's say it was an interesting night.

Robert and I were walking to the car when I heard him stop me.

"(Y/N), I love you so much. I never want to let you go," he said hugging me. I hugged him back and kissed his lips. He smiled and then we went into the car and drove back to his place.

Life continued on as a happy, boring, wonderful thing. Robert and I ended up moving to Europe and travelling a lot. But as long as I was with him, I was at home.
